PC hangs with a "tuck" sound

Hello friends..

recently.. I have been experiencing serious problems with my PC.. It hangs.. now and then..

And.. when it hangs.. a sound from the CPU comes.. It can be called a"tuck" sound.

Most of the time, it hangs at the Verifying DMI Pool Data ... screen.

After lots of trials and errors.. the PC starts. but.. it may hang any time... with that "tuck" sound... :(

Anyone here has any idea??
is my CPU dead??

If display is working then most probably your CPU is fine, what does does this "TUCK" sound mean..
maybe look for some loose connectors in your cabinet and secure all the wires using ties..

Maybe this could be a problem with the power supply..

it could be his hdd is not spinning up properly. his hdd could be a gonner too. maybe lots of bad sectors??

try booting through dvd/cdrom drive with bootable dvd/cd and see if it boots properly.

the "tuck" sound comes from the HDD. its a sure sign way of telling you that the HDD will/is dead. Try to recover data from it send it to replacement fast.

+1 on that !

The tuck sound is the sound of the HDD head failing.

Time to get a new HDD, and immediately backup whatever data you can manage to salvage from the old one

Its either the HDD or its the PSU.....u need to check on that............try a different PSU , if the hdd fails even on that.....then its the hdd.........

if its tuck-tuck sound......shud b HDD......try runnin a HDD utility...n verify....if its PSU it shud giv restarts too.....not jus hangs....most prolly its HDD....even mine is dying:((

The reason why i posted abt the PSU is because at times - the HDD going off because of lean or improper shut down to the HDD.....however if it occurs during the actual read/seek to the disk it should be the disk...its 90% the head of the hdd and 10% psu issue......

it's the HDD, my old PC which had a hytech PSU (INR400) had 4 HDD's they used to make tuck tuck sounds all the while and often get bad sectors. i started using two of them and the tuck tuck sound disappeared.

so if you overloading your generic PSU, don't do that and download the HDD utility to repair your drive if possible.
