I have a P4 3.0GHz with an Intel 865GBF.
Since the last few days the PC is not booting up properly...the symptoms / problems are:
1) Monitor is not displaying anything but is getting power
2) Monitor's light is flashing
3) The CPU starts...fans whirr...mobo light is on...and the cabinet light gets switched on as well
4) Apart from the initial power to the keyboard...it doesn't get any...no lights on the keyboard after the initial one (one flash each to the 3 LEDs)
5) no BIOS/POST beeps
6) not working on a 9700 pro as well as the onboard gpu
7) no light on the optical mouse as well
kris suggesting booting with the 9700 removed...tried that as well...doesn't work.
as far as i see...
1) its not a graphic card problem...tried with both onboard and the 9700
2) its not a keyboard problem...it wud have shown an error in that case...anyways i tried with two of them to be certain
3) its not a monitor problem...its working fine on another PC
4) doesnt seem to be a loose cables problem...checked and saw that all connections were fine
5) its not booting to the desktop in the background...i cant hear the windows startup sound...but then i mite have toggled it off earlier..so can't say...i think it probs hangs at the POST screen itself.
I really don't want to re-check every single component using another PC...or re-assemble the entire thing...if this is a known problem...then pls help
thx
