The site says its range is upto "Maximum line of sight distance: 18 meters (manufacturer rated)" , so 6-8 meters shud work.

the box also says its 18 meters, ive used it from a max of 4 meters and the mouse seems to lag a little bit, its perfect from about 1-3 meters. will put a new pair of batreries and report back soon. overall a good product, like a tv remote but for the pc
