You get laptops with decent specs for Rs. 23-26000. For general purpose computing they're pretty good. Maybe your friend might want to consider them instead.

(Depending on your needs, maybe Sempron 140 may also be ok for you and it is much cheaper i think)

* ASUS M4A78LT-M LE - 3K approx

(It's preferable to pair a Socket AM3 processor with a Socket AM3 mobo with HyperTransport 3.0)

* 2GB DDR3 1333Mhz - 2K approx

* 500GB Seagate HDD - 1.8-1.9K approx

(Get 250GB if significantly cheaper than 500GB and enough for you)
