also who has got better value for money intel or amd?
i have heard that intel's gonna slash prices for its C2D in dec. should i wait for it?

hd 160gb seagate-2.1k

dvd writer-liteon-2.3k

cabinet + cheap psu zebronics-1.5k

amd 4000+ x2---2.9k

gigabyte 690v mobo---2.4k

1 gb ram ddr2 667mhz transcend----1k

8600gt---256mb ram--5.6k

mouse + kb cheapo--.4k

second hand crt monitor 17 inches...

thats the best config...stretch it to 25..and u can buy a new 17'' samsung/viewsonic crt..

this might be the perfect fit...

processor : Intel E4500 - Rs.5000
motherboard : Intel Original 945GCNL - Rs.3150
1 GB 667 Transend - Rs. 950
160 Seagate Sata 7200.10 - Rs.2250
LiteOn 20x IDE DVDRW - Rs.1400
Samsung Pleomax kbb - Rs.250
Microsoft Basic Optical - Rs.450
XFX 8600GT - Rs.5700
PowerSafe 400W - Rs.1350
Creative SB 2.1 - Rs.1150

Totals up Rs. 21650/-

New 17" CRT ~ 4.5k or hunt around for a used one for abt 2k in real nice condition.....Concludes everything in ur budget :)

If u really dont wanna buy speakers then 21650-1150 = Rs.20500

Oh yea...add 750-800 buks for an elcheapo cabinet = ~ Rs.21300....

Hope this helps....

Got a -same- config last night for a pal , its excellent stable...dint buy the 8600gt ..instead got Samsung 740MW Wide Screen 17" .....summed up to Rs.26000 , minus the 8600GT......

nvidia cards are best used with nvidia chipset boards :)

suggest you get an X2 4000+ and an 6100/6150 chipset board or a E2140/E2160 and a 650i board :)

X2 4000+ : 3k

Asus M2N MX : 2.5k

Seagate 160 GB : 2.3k

Transcend 1GB: 1.2k

LITEON DVD Writer : 1.5k

PSU+cabby : 2k

XFX 8600GT : 5.7k

Kbd + mouse : 0.7k

i really wouldnt recommend buying a new CRT right now , cos it will be obsolete soon. see if you can get one second hand. you could get a 17 inch LCD , but the native resolutions are a bit high for the 8600 to drive comfortably. You should be happy with a CRT :)

PS: unless you want to play the *latest* games, the 6100 should hold your urges in place for now :p

dude punjab234, no matter how good the m2a VM is , he's better off with an nvidia chipset mobo . any ol 6100 chipset board should do. just make sure that the southbridge is 430. an m2n mx should be fine
