Re: pc wont boot help :(

Do the UPS and PC not turn on? or is it that the UPS turns on but the PC refuses to turn on. Did you try a different plug point/power strip?

Re: pc wont boot help :(

ups is turning on ,monitor is also turning on with ups but cpu will not light up..and i tried psu in different plugs ,tried changing wire of psu to socket still no power up..tried psu without ups still no use..

Re: pc wont boot help :(

Sounds like your intial thought about the PSU being bad was right. You could try with another PSU to be sure. See if you can get a 'plain' PSU, disconnect your GFX card, all drives except for boot drive and try starting the PC. Also, please list your config here.

Re: pc wont boot help :(

Test Psu this way : Test ATX Power Supply

1) does the PSU fan spin ? / try with direct power to check if the UPS is at fault, APC upses 1000VA+ are pathetic, i use a 1500va with additional battery back, and i have replaced my UPS 7 times in span of 9 months

2) Short the green and black on the 20 pin atx connector and check

3) do a power drain and check if the mobo led glows after you power it back on ?

Re: pc wont boot help :(

yesterday received new psu..and i tried to turnon the pc with new psu still not powering up...now help what could be cause of problem :(

Re: pc wont boot help :(

Did you check the PSU separately as suggested by ryanrulez??? if you have a Active power factor PSU just connect a CD ROM drive to the molex connector and short the Green and any of the black terminal from the 20 or 24 pin connector. If the fan runs then the PSU is fine.

Check for any loose contacts in motherboard power connectors, i mean the power on/off switch. Reinstall the RAMS. Post your observation here

Re: pc wont boot help :(

i checked the new psu by using the short method and fans started spinning so psu is ok..i am thinking mb bad too as i tried connecting psu with mobo with 24 pin and 4 pin only..and power on switch pressed but nothing..no lightup..so i guess mobo bad..any other way of checking mobo like psu short method..
