PES 2012 has finally received an official release date from its developer and publisher, Konami, as the new soccer simulator is set to arrive this October in all territories, for the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 platforms.

There's a bitter rivalry between Konami's Pro Evolution Soccer and EA Sports' FIFA franchises, and the two upcoming iterations, PES 2012 and FIFA 12, are taking things to new heights, each announcing innovative features like the teammate control system from Konami or EA's Player Impact Engine.

Now, after EA confirmed a late September release date for its own game, Konami has finally announced a launch schedule for its PES 2012, at least in Europe, where it is now scheduled to appear on October 14.

The game is set to arrive on the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, with Konami calling it the "most ambitious and advanced football game ever."

"PES 2012 is a massive advance for the football genre," said Jon Murphy, European PES Team Leader. "The additions we have made in terms of Teammate Control, Active AI and Off the Ball Control and elevate the level of play to new heights. No other game allows users so much control over their team, and PES 2012 ensures that the days of gaps in defense and shouting at teammates to make a run are long gone."

"This is a very exciting time to be a PES fan, and we are delighted that we can set a firm date for football fans to mark in their calendars."

PES 2012 is also being prepared for other platforms like the PlayStation Portable, PlayStation 2 or Nintendo Wii, but Konami has yet to confirm an official release date for these devices.

A brand new video of PES 2012's innovative Teammate Control system was also presented, which you can check out below.

PES 2012 is looking promising to me... :D

Finally some love for the PES series........do not remember a lot of fans of PES on TE except for a few, the most famous being stormy :P

PES 2011 was the best football game ever made! (Yes, I went there. :D)

Can not wait for PES 2012. If they just bring back the defending system that was in the PES 2011 Demo, that alone would be worth the price of this years game.

^^ I didn't like PES 2011 at all... In PES 2011 players run in a way that they have some kinda aids in their back... But PES 2012 is looking promising... Last year was the year of FIFA11... But i am a bit optimistic that this year PES 2012 will outclass Fifa12 in both gameplay and sales... :)

I have always loved their game except their last one. But now that I have started buying my games I think FIFA is the only option for me and all other legit buyers in India.

Didnt play 2011 much .... friends just hated it and play fifa :( Hopefully this appeals to people more but really need serious people who can appreciate the realism only then they can appreciate PES. Oh and my only gripe at PES .... GRAPHICS GODDAMIT ITS A VIDEO GAME when is it going to stop looking like something from last century fix the graphics already , every year the videos on youtube look promising .... graphics are improved what not .... reality is very very little improvement if at all.

?? This is a very surprising opinion to me because, since PES 2010, I find PES to be the better looking game. Looks awesome on the PC. And the player faces/bodies are not even comparable.

PES 2011 Demo - Goal de Chivas de Guadalajara

PES 2011 - Roberto Carlos Free Kick

A couple of off screen recordings I made in PES 2011.

Re: Pro Evolution Soccer 2012 Demo

A huge step-up from PES 2011 (which I already consider as the greatest football game ever made). The AI is brilliant. During attacking and the CPU defending against you. Lost 4-0 against Santos. Defending is very difficult and spamming the pressure button will get you nowhere.

The fully manual passing feels very good as well. And unlike FIFA 10/11, it is heavily stats based. I could not make the same through balls with a CB/DMF that I could make with a winger, forward, etc. The power, direction, etc are completely player dependent. The flow of the game also creates one-on-one situations where play stops for a fraction of a second and you get a chance for a tackle or to dribble past your opponent. This does happen in real football, and is nicely re-created. I think these situations are a result of the new zonal marking kind of defending that the AI does, instead of rushing to the player with the ball like a headless chicken.

Overall, feels great.

A few issues with the demo (which I hope will get fixed in the second demo and also the final game)

1) Bad keepers. Worse than 2011, so I think it's just Konami reworking the AI. Feels incomplete. The GK positioning has improved a lot though.

2) Shooting is wonky for some shot powers and body positions. Hopefully this will get fixed.

3) The demo looks very blurry, for some reason. Maybe the LOD is turned down, or smaller textures were used for the demo.

Edit: Also, two major issues from PES 2011 have been fixed. The defenders do not treat the ball like it has leprosy any more. A lot of interceptions are made. Through balls are difficult to pull off. And now, when you go past a defender, he doesn't automatically catch-up.

PES 2012 Set to Get Two Demos, First Based on Preview Code

Video game publisher Konami Digital Entertainment has officially announced that it plans to launch not one but two different demos for its upcoming Pro Evolution Soccer 2012 football simulation game, showcasing how the game experience has evolved during the development process.

The demos will be offered on the PlayStation 3 home console from Sony, the Xbox 360 from Microsoft and the PC.

On August 24, Konami will be launching the first demo of PES 2012, which will be based on a preview build of the game.

This demo will include teams like Manchester United, AC Milan, FC Porto, S.S.C Napoli, Santos FC and C.A. Panarol and will allow gamers to experience 10-minute matches.

The demo will seek to show off the Active AI system that the developers are making one of the cornerstones of PES 2012 while also revealing how the philosophies of the various teams will affect their playing styles.

Players will be able to judge the realism level offered by the game and will be able to see how the team behind it created the most important features of this year's installment.

A second PES 2012 demo will be launched during the middle of September, based on the final code of the game and with all features locked down.

The teams included will be Tottenham Hotspur, FC Bayern Munich, FC Internazionale Milano, Rangers FC, Club America and Sport Club Internacional and gamers will once again be able to play 10-minute matches.

Jon Murphy, who is the leader of the European PES team, has stated, “We have spoken a lot about the new additions to PES 2012, and now we want users to see it for themselves. By releasing a demo for preview purposes, we want people to get in early to try out the Teammate Control elements and to see for themselves how the Active AI works.”

The official launch date for PES 2012 is October 14 and PlayStation 2, PSP and Wii versions will arrive two weeks later.

Pro Evolution Soccer 2012 faces tough competition from FIFA 12 from EA Sports, which will be launched in late September and includes a revolutionary new physics based Player Impact Engine, which makes the game both closer to the real sport and more enjoyable.

Thanks for the great preview, now only if I could revive my PC :P

I on the other hand felt totally let down by the Demo.Till last year i was an ardent PES follower, from the PS2 days of PES4 to the PES 10.

However i made the switch to FIFA11 cause i never really liked PES 2011 due to the ease with which you could score that made it unrealistic. For eg, nearly most of my matches had a score of 7-6 or so, which you hardly see in the real world. Also goals scored from a long range were very unrealistic, as in there was no surety whether hte ball would go in if hit from a particular spot, etc.

IMHO, PES5 and PES6 were the best they ever came close to in terms of providing a real world experience, with long plays and possession games.
