Hi guys,

I want to know the time line for PF claim when I am trying to withdraw my PF and pension scheme amount after I have changed my job.
Officially we cant withdraw, we just submit the form after 2 months of job leaving and they assume us as we are unemployed.

My last day in office was 24th April 2012
I got a challan from my HR that my PF form was submitted on 9th July 2012
Online claim status on EPF site shows that my application was received on 31st July 2012

Now when can I get the amount, the likely timeline.

Some of my friend were telling it can go upto six months. They are pathetically slow.

Let me know your inputs if you know anything.

there is no timeline for pf withdrawal. i dont know why your company hr withdrew it so fast without consulting you first. i withdrew my pf from an old company, 2 years after leaving it, and i got pf in my bank account via neft in around 45 days. my pf ac was with karnataka. which state is your pf ac with?

Yes, it might take any time between 3-6 months. Recently many PF offices has introduced SMS sytem as well. They keep sending you sms on your PF progress.

But by any chance if your Cleared cheques are stuck, will take years to get.

Your company shouldn't have applied so fast. Time to receive the amount varies so much that no concrete period can be given. In my case it took 3 months after submission (which took 9 months after leaving because the PF office wasn't accepting any applications)

I wanted to withdraw as I need money so I filled up the form and submitted to my HR.
My PF office is Kandivali--Mumbai--Maharashtra

^ maharashtra govt? then you can forget about it. it will take months. i got my pf from mh govt around 8-9 months after leaving a mumbai company. i had totally forgotten about it. the sms from the bank about the money crediting to my ac gave me a flashback on it.

This is demoralizing...Hope I get soon....Planning to go in person in their office and check

^Think twice about going..it will show desperation and you will end up having to pay a bribe..May not happen to everyone but happened to my friend.

@OP: Well when your application is being taken by PF department they notify you for that after notification , you can get your amount within 45 days. You can apply for PF withdrawal by filling out form 10c & 19 condition is that you should have worked at least 6 months in an organization to get full amount of PF as other half goes into pension fund.

It depends whether your prev PF a/c was maintained in regional PF office or your company private fund. In the latter case, it will be relatively quick - took less than 1..5months for me. Also, a friend of mine applied for PF transfer from chennai regional PF ofc but still waiting since last 6months.

On a similar note, what happens to an unclaimed PF? I mean, I left my first company back in July '08 and didn't apply for it's PF to be transferred (dick move). But if I ought to claim it now, how do I go about it?

@Ethan_Hunt Usually, if you don't apply for PF transfer, they process your PF amount with your final settlement amount. I think you can you can still apply for PF transfer as long as the PF amount isn't processed.

I don't believe they did. Could you elaborate on the bold part? Do you mean, I can claim it, as long as it's not been withdrawn and/or transferred?

Your money is safe , you can ask for PF transfer any point of time since the account is at Govt not at the company they only manage the account till a period of time.

Just wanted to add and confirm with you guys that inactive PF accounts are not eligible for interest. Inactive accounts = no PF deposit for 18/24/36 months (not sure). I have 3 such PF accounts in Maharashtra, Haryana and AP. Plan to transfer whatever amont these accounts have in the current account. Dont know how feasible/easy it is to do sitting outside the country (I am in New Zealand for couple of years)??

Thanks ankxxs. That means all three are dormant now...should get the amount transferred to new/active one.

What I mean by PF amount being processed is that they will add the PF amount to your final settlement after tax deduction (only in case the PF fund was held privately). If your PF a/c was in the regional PF office, then you can claim to withdraw or transfer the amount to you current PF a/c anytime using Form 13. If you want to transfer, get the FORM 13 from your current employer since some info about your current employer will be already filled out.
