Hi im looking for a phone for my dad which will have:
1)office documents editing (not just viewing) , esp for MS Word.
2)pdf reader
3)camera ho to accha hai

The Nokia 9300 communicator is available on rediff site for 10k and with only 30 days vendor warranty. Does this satisfy the above requirements? i guess this doesnt have a camera..Shud i go for this?

Otherwise i was looking at HTC P3400 which is for around 12k. It has all the above stuff plus 2mp camera plus bluetooth a2dp which is good.. also, does it have a built in pdf reader? or wud i have to install it seperately?

Also looking at HTC S710.. has a nice keyboard and costs about 14k..but no touchscreen and a2dp..

Any suggesstions? Budget is around 12-14k..

I think software in E series phones of Nokia can do this. But ive heard that the newer E51 doesnt have the feature of editing office documents. Im pretty sure the olders ones can be used for editing.

And if you are investing on something like a smartphone, better get it from a store you trust. I would never buy these without having checked myself.

yea maybe getting nokia 9300 communicator from rediff would be risky...

and about nokia E series, the ones with qwerty keypad (E61 & E61i) are very bulky..whereas E60 and E65 have a very small screen for editing documents.. they also have normal keys without a touchscreen.. thts why i think those wudnt be easy to use..

yea but its pretty big in size...
pls tell me, wots the diff betn the E62 and E61?

The difference is that E61 has 3G and Wi-fi while E62 doesn't. Anyway they're both very bulky and unless your dad is used to a big phone he'll find it quite cumbersome. Its best to keep QWERTY and touch-screen phones away from ppl unless they're into that kind of thing and will make heavy use of it.

Best thing for you would be to get a Nokia E51 which is quite VFM at only Rs. 12,500/-. The default office app is meant for only viewing and not editing but you can easily download the full edit-enabled edition from ipmartforum or any other mobile warez site and install it through your PC.

yea... E51 screen size is too small to do editing .. at least a touchscreen is needed otherwise a qwerty keypad.. doing it on a normal keypad wud be too cumbersome for me leave alone my dad...

yea.. i had missed out on tht one...
its got keypad, its small enough and its got document editor, 2mp cam, a2dp and wlan as well.. although wlan wont be of much use to my dad, but it seems to be good...
does it have a pdf reader built in ? and any idea about the price of this rt now?
