In essence yes..

Its more like since sp2 was easily crack-able, and vista was a bit of pain to crack, they introduced the new wga for xp too so that people dont stay back just cause of enhanced wga in vista..

MS is never gonna go hard on the piracy thing ...
sure they will do things like this to kick up some dust and make news to remind ppl that its not moral and legal way but bottom line is .....they are getting free publicity in the name of piracy
the more ppl use it, the easier it is for companies to buy their OS which is not obscure and will not need training, so more relevant sales.

Personally i think MS cares more about selling OS to companies rather than individuals.

Does this affects MS a lot or what?????
I don't think so...

Its happening to me on Vista as well dude :(

If you have sp1, then its built in..

Its just a simple thing..

cr@cks are easily available for the same..

EDIT:-

In vista if its shows only a few days left try this, it will extend by a few days..

click start menu,

type cmd, in the search, cmd.exe will appear,

right click and choose "run as administrator".

type

Slmgr.vbs -rearm

Umm Im not Vista SP1. No alerts or any sort as of yet *touchwood* Lets see what happens. The Autoupdate Service is disabled tho :D The Vista I installed was a 64 bit with a slipstreamed DVD of Vista with SP1.

errr...that means you ARE on vista SP1 :P

Lol, none of this happens to any of the pirated users because they are all using cracks (including me). I get all the microsoft updates without hassle, my Auto Updates are turned on and I also can download any software that I want from their website even if it requires validation. All because of a simple crack :)

Wrong!
Its not legal to play mp3 file format without paying royalty to its creator , as same has been patented. the reason why Proprietary software play this format out-of-box is that Corporations like Microsoft pays the royalty, whereas Free Software can't pay because they don't earn anything from selling software.

Only applies to creators of mp3 players that too only in the countries where mp3 patents have been taken out. (which is what i think you were getting at with the wiki link)

Playback by users is not an issue at all and never was, hence the widespread use of mp3 :)

My Vista 64 SP1 is now asking to reactivate. Since I am using Ubuntu any how it is not bothering me right now. I am thinking of buying a license any how and escaping all this hassle.

My XP is already a cr@cked one.

But after installing SP3 (Has it even come out yet @_@ or am I the first one to get it).I get that registration reminder again :(.

I really do want to buy a Genuine Vista copy but at 14k, the x64 Ultimate version is simply too much!

I'm trying to sneak through my college's MSDN volume license copy for a quick install heheh ;)

I'm using SP3 from 6 months and haven't got a registration reminder till now. I guess you guys aren't using the correct crack.

Yeah, even i got hold of a Vol Licensed copy for my dad's lappy:ohyeah:

I'm using a *ahem* version, but haven't installed one single patch or crack till now. I actually copied the cd image from a legit xp retail cd. Guess its all about finding the right keys ;)

^ For XP it works. There's this one key used by Chinese Govt agencies and MS can never black that out due to some reasons. Get that key and your set! ;)

As for Vista.. I'm still hunting, luckily it doesn't give me the 30 days warning, touchwood!
