I am a noob when it comes to burn in IEM's :ashamed:

I have a PL-11 and Sansa Clip+ 4GB

What should be the ideal time for burn in?

Should i use the burn in wave generator or DL the sounds to the MP3 player and do burn in?

How often should i alternate between the sounds and is there a set max duration?

How often should i give rest to the IEM and how much should be the break time.

PL-11 owners who have successfully done burn in plz help me out. Does PL-11 improve after burn in?

well thr is no such well defined pattern of burning

just play ur usual stuff and donot crank the volume too much

enjoy

happy new year

i dont have pl11 or any iem

^ guys kindly understand more than a burn in you need the right set of earbuds for you , try all of them see what suits u best. like for me one ear i use the medium size and in one the small one. look for maximum comfort and sound isolation , burn in will happen and show you improvements but people seem to have over hyped the concept some how i feel, i see people just blindly saying burn in before u use , burn in before you use. its the finer details and bass that opens up, but the sound signature wont change as such.

PS this is purely my view and people might totally disagree to it.

^ MH just want to ask you one Que. ?

Should i burn it before i Use or Should i use it as a normal earplug & let it take it's own time to burn??

^ i usually have always taken the second route . rather than burning in with those guides online i feel that using it with the kind of songs one listens to helps me actually know the difference with time. may be a better audiophile can comment but even with the pl50 or the sennh i have got i use the second way

^ as i haven't burn in any IEM before i think i should give it a shot this time & see the difference..

if i'll find any change then i'll post it here..

my PL-11 are on the way to here. should arrive by tomorrow..

^ it's all up to you..

but i'm gonna burn in for about 24 hours continuously with medium volume & check it if they sounds different..

I always burn in with 50% white noise and 50% with pink noise for at least 50 hours.. these noises cover up the complete spectrum.

use frequency sweep 20-20k if u want to cover all freq technically

what is white & pink noise

PL11's improve a LOT after burn-in. I made a play-list of these files and continued burn-in for 12 hrs straight(+8hrs on clip+).
PL11 started sounding a lot better: Booming Bass increases, clarity increases and before bass was shadowing other frequencies it disappeared after burn-in :hap2:.
Just comparing, ep-630's didn't show such huge improvement after burn-in.

Well i had opposite experience....my Ep630 improved a lot even after 12hr burn-in but my PL11 showed no sign of improvement even after 40hrs of burn-in. Also i kinda like sound signature Ep630 more than PL11...also bass ki kinda lacking in PL11...i'm disappointed by PL11...however Ep630 rocks :hap2:

I'm a fan of EP-630's boomy bass but its a bit more than enough(if you listen to music similar miami bass/old school hip-hop etc..). This is where I found out that PL11 has similar bass(even more in some cases) but at the same time other high frequencies were a LOT clearer. And believe me PL11 does get a lot better after burn-in.

One more thing PL11's will give higher audio output as compared to ep630 at the same level so they are more energy efficient too.

To check listen to this track - Fannypack - Hey Mammi(mega bass enabled via any SE phone) try both ep630 as well as PL11. You'll come to know the difference right away :ohyeah:. EP630 will sound big and boomy but you wont be able to hear the lyrics before and after the beats, but in PL11 boomy-bass is there as much as ep630 and at the same time all other frequencies aren't being overshadowed.

I can tell the difference as I've been using EP630's from the past 2 yrs and loved it. I never thought PL11's could be better until I used them.
