Pl Suggest Rig For 40k (without monitor)

Hello guys

Posting here after quite a while. Need your help in finding parts for my rig.

Budget - 40k without monitor, mouse, keyboard

Special requirements -

1. I would prefer components that are easy to find without unecessary bells and whistles, considering that I am only an occassional gamer at best - need a decent graphic card, but will not want to go for a power hungry bulky card.

2. No overclocking - dont want external cooler/fan etc. Stability is more important than performance.

Want to finalize things by evening. Quick help much appreciated

I am just going to give the list to the hardware guy who will buy the parts and give me the assembled PC with OS installed. Not even going to bargain much. I am no-longer the same guy who registered here in 2006. Have responsibilities. Cant spend enough time to buy parts and assemble rig myself

Actually, I think I just grew out of the passion of buying things and assembling. I still like gadgets - no doubt about it.

Btw, that GTX560 looks bulky.. Will it last 2 years(literally)?... I just dont think I will be wanting to go shopping for a card coz something blew in 6 months. I would want to play games like Batman - decent quality settings at 1920x1200 - even 1680x1050 will do I guess. I play maybe once a week at best.

Wow, looked at heat dessipated and the cards these days seem good. In the old Geforce 9600 days they were considerably hotter I suppose(or am I remembering right) - Yes, thats my current hardware knowledge.
 
^^ If you want to be sure for 2 years then you have two options Sire, either you wait till March and take the new R7000 series card that AMD will release OR you can step-up your current budget ~15000/- and get a nVidia GTX 560 Ti / AMD HD 6950 1GB.

This should be enough for the most part, Batman Arkham City is a very heavy game and depending on the resolution and detailing can kill a graphics card, other games which are worth an investment are The Witcher 2 which also can quite capably polish of most graphics cards.

Basically over time the coolers themselves have progressed to better standards, so as to dissipate the excess heat generated better.

Then try to get the hardware guy to arrange for the NZXT Gamma anyhow, it is the best cabinet sub~3000/- and the eLite series is trashed soundly, here are some reviews -- http://www.overclockersclub.com/reviews/nzxt_gamma/,

Thanks. Actually, I was talking about reliability of 2 years with regards to burning out etc. Performance can always be managed as per requirements

I think 320gb hdd costs more than you quoted,It's somewhere around 3.5k or more,do share a link if you can.

^^ #thegatekeeper, it is local prices on street from Bangalore last I check, 500GB ~ 3900/-, can't say what are the latest prices. Thanks for the update, post the appropriate price list and do let OP know.
 
Wouldn't it be better to buy a SSD now, and buy a sizeable HDD later on when the prices have stabilised?

^^ Sire [could not tag you so quoted the post], the prices of SSD's are also not very friendly right now, ~5000/- for a 60GB SSD, in my opinion there are ~5 years to go before hard-drive storage capacity will be available in SSD's with price parity and superior performance that justify the purchase of SSD's as dedicated drives over a standard HDD.

So let OP buy a slightly over-priced HDD over a over-valued SSD.
 
Dont you guys think i3 2100 is good enough for OP ? The money saved (around 4k ?) can go towards a better GPU.
 
^^ Let us balance the RIG overall, instead of getting a good GPU + decent CPU, I'm not saying that the Core i3 2100 is a weak CPU for gaming, but that his budget ~40000/- allows us to pair a good CPU + good GPU [he is not interested in over-clocking, so we save cash there].

With a true quad-core processor OP is capable of running productivity applications as well without hiccups --> http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/289?vs=363.

And the problem is we do not know when OP is next going to upgrade, so better to play safe with a quad-core + GTX 560Ti class graphics card. Next up if we plonk in an extra ~4000/- quid into his card the upgrade he gets is a HD 6950 2GB which is not a very great bump over the GTX 560Ti unless you do not go into the EyeFinity set-up mode and OP hasn't expressed any thoughts to do that either.

#teper where is the hard drive, plus a generic cabinet is not a good idea with a card of GTX 560 Ti's calibre stuffed inside. The heat will play havoc on OP's components.
