Hi,

I have devised this method of cooling down my PC. Gurus please comment if this is foolhardy.

As you might be knowing, I am using a Super Lan Boy so the interiors are somewhat cramped. Otherwise, it rocks.

Now:

I play to get from FrozenCpu (direct order, no customs) 2 fans:

- sunon 120 mm x 38 mm (100 CFM) as exhaust at the back port on SLB.
- panaflo 120 mm x 25 mm (86 CFM) as intake right infront of the GFX card by creating a suitable opening on the acrylic side panel.

the front blue led fan will continue to function as a intake fan, but due to 3 HDDs, it is proving highly ineffective.

Also, as I had earlier mentioned, the XFX 7800GT's Heat sink and fan assembly (the metal works) is covered by a covering of plastic which is making any fan attachments ineffective as no air is coming in contact. So how to remove that upper layer?

Thanks a ton

Karan

just open 3 screw in the back of the card and it will come off ..... and blowing air onto the graphics card doean't reduce any temps unless and untill u put it on the HS of the graphics card.....

and i will not suggest to get that high CFM fans for case intake and out as that will not help much rather than making noise, if u are going to run them with low voltage ie 7V then it ok ..... otherwise a 30-40 CMF will do fine .... :)

There is no need to remove the plastic cover if you dont plan to screw on small 40mm fans on the heatsink. The fan on 7800GT is crossflow fan. It pushes the air under the plastic, through the heatsink fins and thats how its cooling the card.

120MM side fan is never recommended. It will create lots of turbulence and noise. Just get quiet 80mm fan on the side pannel right in front of the graphic card. And 86CFM back fan will do insted of 100CFM. Even little lower is ok.

And if you are ordering from frozencpu it might be good idea to get something like TT big typhoon or TR SI-120 HSF.

He has a Hyper 6+.

Anyways i dont think hes having any issues with his CPU Temp.

Their @ 45 Load as far as i remember what he told me.

Hes just worried about his Gfx Card Overheating after all his OverClocking.

cutoff the fan grill holes thingy. will increase airflow by atleast 100% compares to airflow with grill :P and reduce noise to some 25% of what with grill

turbulence? thats a good thing right? after all it will make sure that all the air inside the cabby is mint fresh all the time.

my problem is solved as soon as i open the cabby, so i guess not enough exhaust is happening...........

it makes the hot air stay inside :ohyeah: stirs up too much air, a 120mm. 80mm or 92mm fan for the sidepanel is much much better
