We are planning for a trip to Munnar from Bangalore in October. Our plan so far is as below:

Day 0: leave from Bangalore on KSRTC by evening

Day 1: reach Munnar by morning. Sightseeing (days 1,2,3).

Day 3: return to Bangalore by evening

So far, we have the following places in mind:

Rajamala, Eravikulam National Park, Anaimudi Shola National Park, Mudapetty Dam, Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary, Devikulam-Upto top station, Echo Point, Elephant safari, Kundala Lake and boating, Atukkad Waterfalls & Tata Tea Museum.

Can we cover all these in 3 days?

Please give your advice on any other interesting places, good/bad experiences, things to watch out etc. Also, there have been a few reports on wild elephants attacking humans recently. Should we be concerned? What is the preferred mode of transportation, any places to stay away from?

I got taxis pretty easily when I went in 2005, you just need to haggle with them. There was one trip taking to seven different points, I don't remember. But I think, 3 days should suffice.

You will need ample warm clothing. It rains around the year and even in May, when the whole country sweats and curses the heat, Munnar is one of the coldest places. I hardly saw the sun when I went there in May 2005.

A good HQ camera is a must, along with extra batteries because of the cold weather.

Personally didn't like the Munnar Tea, but the Tea Plantations ( mostly owned by Tata) were a visual treat. When I visited, it seemed like Tata owned the city.

My $ 0.02
