Hey guys , I'm a casual gamer have a PS3 with me but as i am on CFW cannot play new games so thinking of buying a Card for my PC so that i can play games.

Planning to get a ATI Radeon HD 5450 or 6450.

My config is : 4GB Corsair DDR3 Ram

Pentium Dual Core E6600 @ 3.2Ghz

450 Watt Psu

Will the card support the config and will i be able to play new games such a NFS Run , Fifa 12 , BFBC 3 , Skyrim , AC : R , Driver SF ? Just wanna play them with hassle free speed and pretty much average graphics. If not suggest me some good ATI card within 3K budget. Thanks for looking.

GO for the 6450 if the difference between the 5450 and the 6450 is not very large. Also have a look at 5550/6550

I'd suggest a minimum HD5670 512MB if you want to play the above mentioned games at 1280x800 resolution hassle free.

^^ Its not much just around 400 bucks. I was wondering will the games work properly?

At low settings, yes. At higher settings, no. Basically, both are the same cards, only the 6450 has HDMI v1.4 and Bluray 3d playback options. I think you are better off with a 5 series card.

True, but he has a budget of 3K. Was planning to suggest the same to him too.

I dont mind playing the games at low settings. I just wanna play hassle free thats it. Decent graphics. Though i can try to shell out some more cash for 5670. But my question remains about the PSU ?

Get the older HD4670. It'll be available for just around 2.4k (street price here in ND is 2.2-2.3k)

Its better than HD5570, HD5450, HD6450 and even GT430.

An alternative will be the older 9600GSO.

If you arent going to upgrade then FSP 350W will be okay. Although i would suggest you to get atleast a 400w decent psu.

Btw, which "450W" psu are you using now?

HD 5670 doesnt need external power, and draws from the PCIE slot itself, and has headroom for good OC as well. So it should fall much under 75W (watts that can be drawn from PCIE X16). A local 450w can hold it for timebeing, but upgrade the PSu to a FSP saga 350 asap (1~2 months). It retails for 1.4k. And 5670 512Mb sells for <4k.

I have a local PSU 450W. So should i go for the 4870 or 5670 512MB GDDR5?

If both draw power from pcie slot then i guess a new psu is not needed as i said power failure is to a minimum as i have a back ups 600VA APC.

4870 is close to 3x power monger than a 5670. It needs two 6 pin additional power, and performance is also leaps ahead of 5670.

Eother go for HD 5670 or a 4670.

and lastly, a good PSU, just not only save your components in case of sudden power failures. Its just 10% of duty. A good PSU delivers pure power, that is with least fluctuation under heavy loads (watts close to PSU's specified wattage is considered heavy load). Local PSU's could burn off taking other peripherals with it, during overloads, and ageing heavily affects local PSU, which have below average quality capacitors, and no protection circuits for Over voltage, over current etc and doesnt have power factor correction either against branded PSUs having active PFC circuit with protection features like OCP, OVP, SCP etc.

Cleaner power prolongs component life span, and offer better stability at higher temparatures and while overclocking, and even at normal clocks.

One should always consider PSU as the core PC components and assign almost same budget as the CPU or mobo or GPU. A local 450W PSU will only be able to actually deliver around 250W of power. Anything higher is overloading for it can fail anytime.

Well, everything said is important FYI. But, AFAIK and have a couple of friends running the 4670 on a local 400w psu for over a couple of years now. So, dont worry, just get the 5670 or the 6670, and start gaming. It will work hassle-free for sure, unless you try overclocking on the local psu.

And welcome to the PC Gaming Zone :D

^^ Alrighty then :D I used to be a PC gamer but i bought a console PS3 and yes im stuck after 6months of gaming :s So again moving back to PC for the time being. I guess il get the 5670 :) Thanks everyone. Mods you can close the thread.

5450 just don't have the Horsepower to run new games at decent res. as it's for HTPC's , if you want to game then go for something>=5670...;)
