Storage Solutions Planning to Buy New 1TB hardisk, which one is best and is value for money

K people!!!!! finally, thanks for all your support and advice..... Now I am down to two Hard disk: Which you people recomended

1) Western Digital Caviar FALS (Black) Hard Drive - I TB

Suggested by "techfreak" and then recomended and fortified by kalesh, Gannu, SumitB

Model No. - WD1001FALS

2) Seagate 7200.12 with dual platter.

Model No. - ST31000528AS

Suggested by Amien and then recomended and fortified by mach9, Karthi007, m0h1t

The WD comes with 5 years Warranty however Seagate comes with 3 Years...I have review link for each one of them on the standard site:

Now I am not getting any benchmark for two, i.e. any direct comparison in b/w two..I am a little confused in here that which one is actually better....My budget is Rs. 6,000 so money is not an issue, i need quality here... So, people please give your final verdict according to what I posted here, so that I could a harddisk with free mind here.....

And moreover...I was not able to find a quote for the above two hardisk on any of the Indian sites: such as

after reading 10+ reviews here is my solution:

The Seagate has a faster read speed and is slightly quieter.

The Caviar Black writes faster, boots faster, loads games faster and is more reliable.

WD all the way...
 
The best deal that i could find was through Ebay.

I got WD10EACS 1TB Caviar Green for 5150/- (After using coupon) ;)

Warranty 5yrs.

IMO You don't really need Caviar Black if you main aim is for Backup of Data, Media etc..
 
I vote for the FALS, Just count the number of people who suggest black WD and Seagate, Buy the one which is recommended by most of the people :bleh:

WD Black pros:
1.door-to-door replacement.
2. Relaible
3. better performer

Seagate:

pros: :ashamed:
Cons: Get ur data insured :rofl:
 
+1 for Caviar Green if you intend to use it only for dumping data.

Got it for Rs 5.1k in Lami 2 weeks back.
 
I will suggest you to go for WD Blue version. It is in between black and green in terms of performance and price.General computer shop keepers will not have blue model - most of them will have seagate; and the one who have WD - only green or in some very rare cases black. Call theitwares or lynx and check.

I recently got the wd640 aaks -blue from lynx
 
ok i stumbled while searching to quench my thirst for a 1 tb hdd... got to say WD all the way here... me going to buy WD 1 tb.. green pr black is the question here ... hmm.. will tell you this weekend..

i just got a WD10EADS 1TB with 32MB Cache for Rs. 5100 yesterday

it gives 75-80MB/s Read & 75-80MB/s Write Speeds with 14ms Access Time which is great for Data Storage

if you want it for the os too buy the WD1001FALS for Rs. 6100 as it is the fastest 1TB after a Seagate 7200.12 1TB
 
go for seagate barracuda 7200.12 dual platter.i think it's the best value for money & gives equally good performance as well...
 
frankly the 7200.11 were just a blip on Seagates radar. To be honest, there's absolutely no probs with their 7200.12 1TB's

I have the ST31000528AS 1TB 7200.12 and its awesome. Both Read and Write are stunning.
 
K....finally Settled down and bought Seagate 7200.12 1 TB ...HardDISK

In the absence and repeated failure of getting from the Market...

Though Am Happy with it as well....Giving me quite of Nice Speeds...

Lets See Assume Will Work for Me.... In long Run as well///
