Play-asia Delivery

^Thanks.

Btw which option do we choose out of 'Airmail' and 'EMS speedpost'? The cheapest i.e.

Besides do we need to specifically tell them to mark the shipments as 'sample' or something of this sort to avoid customs? Asking this since I'm new to this and have absolutely no clue!

EDIT: Ok fingers crossed. Ordered Ninja Gaiden Sigma (Greatest Hits) - surprisingly very cheap - 1215 INR. Business + office address + bubble envelope shipping. Lets see how it turns up!

Hi guys,

I ordered God Of War Saga collection from Play-Asia. I'm from Mumbai. I ordered it on Jan 7. Haven't received it as of yet. I mailed to Play-Asia and they suggest that i go and ask my local post office? Which post office is this? The local area govt post office?

Sorry if this sounds dumb, but i've never had international shipping done.

Thanks! :)

If you ordered through Ems speed post, most likely its stuck at customs office in santacruz. If ordered through SAL, it will be at the GPO in Mumbai central or at your local post office if its already been cleared.
Take a copy of invoice with you and a photo id.
Take a look at tracking to find out the exact location of your shipment. Ems is tracked even in India. The normal post is tracked only till it reaches the Gpo.

I was under the assumption that in case the PO decides to charge customs, the package will still be delivered (instead of being held at the PO), and the local postman will collect the customs while handing over the package. Is this not so?

Yes it is in most cases. India post will take 100 extra too as charges in case of ems. In many cases if you get through speed post, then customs might sit on it thinking you're importing it to resell and may ask for import number or something like that.

I never received the copy of Ninja Gaiden from Play-Asia and was refunded. A little late to post the update! :p

I don't suppose this is always the case. With private couriers such as FedEx and DHL, I assume so. I had ordered an automotive part from AliExpress but got stuck at the Customs Dept., Foreign Post Office, Ahmedabad and they sent me a registered post card intimating me about this. On further follow-up, I was asked to submit some documents. The shipment is still not released and the Superintendent has assured me that it will be released this Friday after verifying all the documents. The shipment is slightly big so this might have caused all this mess. For smaller shipments, I'd assume that it may get cleared easily.

I didn't get any tracking details as i opted for the cheaper variant of shipping.
I went to the post office in my area and they say they need to have a tracking number in order to verify if its there. :/
What so i do now?
I contacted playasia regarding this, and am awaiting their reply.

Didn't you get tracking number of Hong Kong post in shipping details of Play Asia? Imo, HK post gives tracking details for both Ems and normal post too.
Just check your PA account to make sure.

Yeah, I checked some old invoices I had and they don't have tracking info for economy post.
All you can do is wait a week more.
I think it takes around 30-45 days for post to come in hand.
After 45 days are over & you still didn't get the item, ask PA to refund you the money.

Okay, so I finally received the game yesterday!! I couldn't believe that it came, but it sure did. :nailbiting::happy:
I didn't need to pay any duties and it came via the normal India post.

Thanks a lot for the support, guys!!

If you are importing an expensive item like a console (PS Vita), would it be better to opt for a courier service like FedEx over EMS? Should I risk the shipment getting lost/getting stuck in customs?

@letmein
The total amount will be the amount you pay for the PS Vita + Custom duties. You need to calculate the total amount and see if its suited to your budget.
Also, if you are ordering something this expensive, I would suggest you choose the shipping type which provides you with tracking information. But they are pretty expensive.
Do not risk the shipment getting lost in customs, as i mentioned earlier, choose the service which provides you with tracking information.
FedEX is obviously a better choice. But its an expensive one. :)
Hope this helps :D
