i have d 80 gb classic and its i think the 4th yr running.. D battery is certainly losing its longevity but since the day i bought it, till date, its been in a strong leather case.. aka, ive taken good care of it..

Anyways d ipod quality, all including the new itouch has not impressed me...
Since i got the cowon S9, i just cant go back to the pod... SQ here is a no brainer
 
^Cowon are audiophile grade devices, period.If you want a PMP in the truest sense(i.e. music+some videos) then get s9, if you want a gazillion useless apps.(and a few good apps ofc.) then get the ipod touch.

Only major drawback of s9 is lack of expendable slot.:|
 
earlier versions of ipod touch used to have bad audio quality but ipod touch 3G has excellent audio quality. I have used Cowon D2 (which is better than Cowon S9 in audio quality) before moving to ipod touch and I am happy with audio output.

Actually most reviews say the S9 is better than D2 when they're used without an amp. I've owned both at the same time and couldn't find a difference unamped with IE7 or amped with a cmoy (:S)

@ jeffrain123 - If you're still not decided wait for the J3, think of it as a S9 that looks and feels better and has a expandable memory slot. Might sound better too, will have to wait for reviews though.

No. Majority are free apps and many paid apps are less than 4$ with 99cents being common price. 90% of apps I use are free apps. you can install itunes and take a look at appstore to get to know about apps. You do not need ipod touch to browse through appstore.

Could you please explain , in what way is the Cowon D2 better than the S9 in terms of audio quality ?

Both sound exactly the same other than the very slight bass roll off on the D2 ,which is not noticeable unless your are using really good earphones and have a good trained ear.

Stop stating false and self made baseless facts, please.:@ or if you really feel the D2 is better than a S9 , could you provide with a valid reason or a review/ discussions stating the same.

hmm. That is what I felt when I tried S9 last time (and also tried Samsung T3) before going for ipod touch.

If purely based on graphs, yes, they do look similar. Now, what's the need for me to make up facts? I am not the one selling these players, am just putting my opinion here.

no. that cant be done. If you jailbreak ipod touch, it can be paired with phone but cannot be used to connect to internet.
 
None of the similar bluetooth programs that allow phone to phone connection where one can access net connection of the other phone?
 
hey man, the s9 in my opinion is superior then the ipod touch in SQ by some leaps.. I dont have any proof or graphs for the same but i purely go by my ears and this is what i have to say... i heard the touch and i heard the S9, and in SQ the s9 is better dude.. no question abt it.. Dunno abt the d2 though i doubt it can be better than the s9
For everything else, UI, usability, features etc etc, ipod wins hands down...
But then i wanted a pmp and not a netbook, hence the cowon

The gear i used on it was the klipsch S4, sennheiser cx-500, sony 200 headphones(basic 1500 bucks headgear) and the Dr Dre beats headphones (high end and demands good gear for peak performance) coupled with marantz and yamaha amps for connectivity (dont have the small amps or so called dac's)..

S9 brother for pure SQ.. its just silly in my opinion to compare it to the touch.. infact i would even step out and say that the samsung p3 and the sony (dont remember d model), sounded better than the touch...
BTW, p3 too is seriously worth considering......

Guys again, dont have any proof for the above.. Its strictly my opinion
 
^ You don't need proofs for it .The views are pretty much common and shared by most experts on head-fi as well. ;).

btw faheem, advice, for 60% movies, 20 music and 20 games, which would be your choice of headphones..

Sennheiser hd-555, jvc rx-900, denon 1001 or any other under 8k????

Bass is a must since its movies and in music i roll across genres..

I've dropped my Zune 80 at least a dozen times and each time I'm surprised that it still works :D
 
^ Noticed the same with most Ipods classic .A friend has a 30GB classic which is more than 5-6 years old and abused to death but it's still working other than super low battery life. :P
