PlayStation Poratable (PSP) TA-082 motherboard downgrade risk

Dear mates,

I posses a brand new PSP with the firmware version 3.11 and TA-082 motherboard. I bought my gadget from US so as to bear it in little cheap price than in India. I decided to downgrade it myself (with the help of fellow perfectionists) but found out that the downgradation of PSP TA-082 motherboard is a big hassle and there's a plenty of risk of bricking it... as on forums all over the web
My PSP contains a mark IC1003 (TA-082 mark) on its motherboard which can be seen from the UMD bay opening.

It's a hassle in buying and sliding the UMDs everytime when I need to play the game (which are pretty expensive too) and many files (video, music and more) are even not compatible enough to execute under the factory loaded firmware. :(

Please help me finding out a way so that I may use my gadget with its full capabilities of dumping games and playing all files with maximum possible extendibilities it posseses... without getting it bricked

Kindly direct me precisely regarding the issue...

As mentioned elsewhere in this forum if u want to downgrade ur psp without much headaches pay somebody to do it.the admin over at yourpsp.in charges 1000bucks but will change your firmware to any version of your choice..trust me its not worth it doing it on ur own if u dont know much and by the way do u have a lumines umd to downgrade on ur own??

Dear mate,

I have been searching for the same (LUMINES UMD) since days as a fellow perfectionist told me that I need one for the downgradation. But the agenda is that I need the US version of LUMINES since my PSP is based over US firmware.

Could you please provide me more details about the downgradation party (contact, warranty, etc.) and what is the actual use of Lumines for the downgradation of TA-082

to contact that guy
head on over to
Code:
www.yourpsp.in
and contact the admin there,
his name is pramod,i got my psp downgraded from him but seeing as you are from NCR ull probably need to contact this guy
Mohit email:- lord_of_destruction16@hotmail.com

oh and by the way im in no way affiliated to these guys,i just got my psp downgraded from pramod since i also couldnt find an unpatched GTA:LCS umd...
so dont blame me if they screw up or something...just thought ill let you know:)

Thanks a zillion mate :)

Lemme try and find out.

Thanks again.

By the way, do these guys take a gaurantee of not bricking up or refunding me one if screwed? :S

some of them do some dont, the guy in mumbai does give guarantee, not sure about the guy from NCR,the bangalore guy doesnt, its actually pretty much brick free if you know what your doing so...it was only the earlier CFW's which used to brick..just follow the instructions precisely and ur good to go...glad i could be of help

Sure thing my friend... but if I could get a positive and riskfree feedback.
I dont understand the basic difference of buying it from India and US? Ultimately the product is same... only the motherboard is a hassle which persists everywhere.
Wish somebody or the other provides a favourable post.

Thanks a plenty!

just in case u do get ur fw changed from the NCR guy , wotever happens .. dont 4get to report back .. even if u dont intend to return to this forum ..

I wish to provide a positive post in the forums so that everybody may avail the help of TechEnclave with appropriate directions.

Wish me luck! :hap2:

motherboard version doesnt matter with the newer downgraders like the one that needs lumines

only thing 082+ cannot do is upgrade to an official fw after being downgraded yet but who will use an official fw after using OE

First of all,

I'll explain what nuke666 just said... or what the actual problem with downgrading a TA-082 mobo is.

During the downgrading process on a TA-082 PSP, some of the files from the flash memory of the PSP are not removed/patched successfully. These files remain on the PSP flash memory even after the successful installation of a custom firmware. These files later on can cause problems running the legit softwares or firmware upgrades. Although I haven't seen any problems with this so far, apart from the semi-brick which I did to Hyp3rion's PSP.

Secondly, since you have a 3.11 F/W. As of now, there is no straight downgrader available for this f/w. After the f/w 3.0X there were no new downgraders created and the only downgrader which is available will work on f/w 3.5.

Which means, you'll first have to upgrade your PSP to 3.5 f/w and then downgrade it further to 1.5. Once on 1.5, homebrew world is open for you... and you can go anywhere you want to. :cool2:

heh... by the way... I didn't knew you wanted to do this yourself! Anyways,
just my 2 cents... hope this helps. Good luck! :)

Hehe! Catching my words Lethal?:hap5:
My statements were merely meant for the forum dude. I wouldn't have got such a strong feedback if I'd have been much precise about my plans.
It could have been lengthy... and pathetic ;)... posting such a descriptive thread. :cool2:
Nope? :cool2:

Mates,

This would be my last post to inform you that there are no hassles in downgrading any PSP whether or not a TA-082 based gadget.
The fact behind all is very simple that it's always a risk to flash the firmwares/BIOS of the intelli ICs, be it a PSP, a mobile phone or a motherboard.
If done correctly, it would persist no issues in front of you but might be fatal if done without proper knowledge of the same.

I got my TA-082 based PSP downgraded on my own which took me merely 20 min to complete the entire procees from the firmware 3.11 to 3.40 OE-A.

Using Dark Alex downgrader and adequate knowledge of PSP technology, it didn't took me more than a deep sigh to be victorious over my deed.

A very simple and dated game named LUMINES was needed for the task to initiate as the game contains an exploit which crashes the 3.50 f/w and the firmware can be easily downgraded after then.

None of you would get bothered to pay even 500/- for a LUMINES UMD (since the game is very simple and outclassed in PSP section) but since it is a precious thing now a days for downgradation, you won't even get it for 4000/- in India. :p

Things went right for me luckily and I managed to find some friend who possesed the same.
Got it done in a matter of time and here I am... :)

Celebrations for using my PSP at its max.

Thanks for all your co-operation. :hap2:

Dearest of all my friends,

After almost half a decade, I am back with the same confusions n questions over how to upgrade my PSP from CFW 3.40 OE-A to the latest available stable and effecient firmware.
Infact, I don't even know which one is available these days.

Honestly, I haven't used my handheld for anything other than playing a few games and listening to music when I am on a go.
Since I was in UK for a long time, I didn't try to research over the internet about hacking PSP stuff as Cyber Law is a big concern there.
Bearing a fear of being handcuffed by the cops, I laid low and didn't experiment over my gadget. :p

Could you please help some in this regard?

Reminding you all that I still bear the same PSP with TA-082 Motherboard and ever since I have downgraded it once, it's firmware has been intact.

Any worthy suggestions are welcome.

And you think India is full of Pirates :p

TA-082 Mobo does not hold any significance once you have successfully graded your PSP, Get 5.50 Gen D3 and enjoy.
