first of all 'hi' to everyone and thanks for adding me as a member :D

i want to upgrade my pc specifically for faster and gaming pc.

with my present configuration i can play nothing

heres my config.

intel pentium d 820

asus P5 KPL -AM IN

512 mb ram

intel g33/31 express chipset family

800 psu

500 hdd (mouse+key)

i want to play high end games like CRYSIS 2,Far Cry 2,Metro 2033,DIRT 2,NFS SHIFT 2 ETC etc

my budget is 20k (i just need cpu,gpu, motherboard) (ram ill buy myself 4gb)

Which brand/model PSU do you have and what is the resolution of your current monitor?

From the PM i understand ur monitor has a 1440*900 resolution. So i would recommend the following

AMD AthlonII X4 640 - 4.6k

Gigabyte GA-880GM-UD2H/MSI 880GM-E41 - 4.1k

MSI Raedon HD5750- 6.5k/ MSI Nvidia GTS 450 - 6.9k

Seasonic S12II 430w/Corsair CX400 - 2.7k

2*2GB DDR3 1333MHz Value RAM - 2k

Total: 19.9k/20.3k

If you have a separate budget for RAM then get a decent cabby like CM Elite 310 ~ 1.6k/ NZXT Gamma ~ 2.2k

I guess you are using a SMPS/PSU that comes with the cabinet.So you would need a good SMPS like the Corsair or Seasonic one that i have mentioned for ur intended setup.

If you are strict intel only person then,

Intel Core i-3 540 ~ 5.1k

Asus P7H55 M LX ~ 3.5k

4GB Corsair 1333MHz DDR3 single stick ~ 2.1k (Since the motherboard has only 2RAM slots its better to go with a single stick so that upgrading later is easier.
 
you can opt for a phenom 2 x4 965 be if you can extend your budget a bit more

it will cost you 7500

if the ultimate and only purpose is just gaming then a decent processor like athlon 2 x4 or i3 will work but you need to invest in discrete graphic card

anyways what would be the resolution on which you want to play these games
 
Since you need only CPU+GPU+MB within 15k, these combo may be good:

This one is more of a balanced combo:

AMD Phenom II X4 945 3.0GHz (6MB L3 Cache) costing 6.4k(theitwares),

ASUS M4N68T-M motherboard - 2.35k

and one of the GPUs darkangel mentioned- ATI 5750 or NVIDIA GTS 450

For gaming, this one is better:

AMD Athlon x4 640- 4.6k

ASUS M4N68T-M motherboard - 2.35k

MSI/Sapphire Radeon 5770 1 GB GDDR5- 7.7/7.8k

Total: ~14.7k

this will give you the best gaming performance you can get at this price.

If i have misread it and you have to fit other components within 15k, darkangel's combo is best.
