Hi Folks,

I need a full sized mechanical keyboard. Budget is around 5-6k. Blue switch variant is fine. Purpose is daily computing tasks and gaming. I was eyeing this one:

Redragon K580 VATA RGB USB LED Backlit Mechanical Gaming Keyboard with Macro Keys & Dedicated Media Controls, Onboard Macro Recording (Blue Switches)

Is anyone here using the above KB... is it a good option to get? Kindly do recommend any other keyboards I could look into.

Thanks.
For that price range, do not consider brands like Redragon, CosmicByte, ETC. You won't find any long-term quality in them.

Something like an RK100 would make sense, if you can forego the media controls:

Even Kreo makes decent stuff:

Avoid kreo. Try to get aula f99 or rk 100 but its very difficult to get options for a full sized mech keyboard. 87 or 75% options are plenty.

My experience with RK has been good. It is a great budget option. I recommend ordering from meckeys. Some lesser known sellers can be slow in shipping.

Full-sized mechanical keyboards are still relatively rare, would you consider a 75% or a TKL instead? There are a lot of good options for those

I am using RK100, which has north facing LEDs.

I know it is not a traditional full sized layout, but living with it. Otherwise it is good. I have remapped Ins, PgUp & PgDn as play/pause, vol - & vol + respectively.

Some people said Redragon is fine, better than Kreo, Cosmic Byte, etc but RK & AULA are considered even better.

AULA F99 is another option as suggested earlier but it seems to have south facing LEDs, so backlight shining through the keycaps as you might expect.

For me, south-facing LEDs are a con. With laptops I generally hate non-backlit keyboards, also in the with cheap Dell/Legitech full KBs even though I never use my system in a low light environment. This is the reason I did not consider spending on Keychron V6 Max which costs 9.5k.

Thank-you guys for all the input.

I think I'm too used to using a traditional 100% layout KB and under 6k the only option is a Redragon K580. The RK100 (V2) arrow keys spacing is a problem.

If you need wireless mechanical then this combo does not beat anything: Gold Platina Wireless Mechanical Keyboard and Mouse Combo @ 3.7k (TVS site)
TVS Platina Wireless Mechanical Keyboard And Mouse Combo @ 3.2k (Mehta Brothers)

Pretty much this. I personally can't even imagine spending 6k on a Redragon/CosmicByte product. This is coming from someone who currently owns products from both brand. They make good products for the given price but I don't expect the quality of their products to increase with higher budget.

Not sure about the spacing of arrow keys but there's Razer Blackwidow V3, ASUS TUF K3 and Cooler Master CK550 that come in my mind. I own a 60% keeb and kind of regret purchasing it because I didn't realise how much of an issue it would be.

For full sized keyboards based on my personal experience.
For that budget this is a pretty decent choice. Razor Black Widow. Had one for a few years and worked without any issues. Gave my old keyboard to a friend.

A quality step up from this would be this keyboard. Filco Majestic Touch. But cost is double your budget. Buttery smooth keyboard but I was more into custom keyboards by then.

I owned a Corsair K90 which was expensive but was not a good experience. Keyboard started acting up after a few years of usage.

As someone who was maybe still is addicted to mechanical keyboards and custom builds above two pre builds are decent options.

If you can increase your budget a little, would strongly recommend to check Arion Frost (currently on discount at 8K) (special edition from meckeys for Keychron K8 Pro). Recently switched to this and loving the experience.

Just wanted to know that from which angle can it be classified as a full sized Keyboard :p

I've been considering TVS keyboards for decades now - their funny Enter key is a deal breaker.

whatever you buy, don't buy Royal Kludge. bluetooth range is pathetic. Sometimes it fails to work when its on table and PC is just under the table. need to literally touch it to PC to make the keys register.

My RK84 works just fine for the last 1.5 years. Great range and decent enough battery life. There will always be defects with any product, no matter the price range. In general, RK is a great brand
