Looking to buy a 50" Plasma TV for my bedroom this month...

42" seems to lack the vertical size that I need...

My budget is 1.8L ...dont think too many fit in that budget :ashamed:

Are LCDs really superior? 46" LCD and 50" plasma are priced similar...But hell I need a 50"...

Please suggest a good VFM HD ready plasma TV.

Not the costliest and not the crappiest.....A Good display at good money, thats what Iam looking for...

Thanks in advance :)

well most of the plasma available in india are just HD ready.out of all the plasmas available in india panasonic plasmas are realy good.

but if its LCD u are after then u can have a look at the sony KLV-46W300A.my friend was in the same boat as urs but he finaly bought the sony lcd after nearly two months of research.

I already have LG 42" plasma...So want to build on it and go 50" plasma....Yes size matters and so I can only go Plasma... unless LCD quality is that much better and 46" LCD makes sense...But I dont find much quality difference between Plasmas and LCDs...

not sure if this is what u r looking for...just take a demo of this TV and tell us what you think..My uncle has one of these..looks good i must say..may not be as good as a plasma or LCD but at that price....
Sony India : KF-55E200A (KF55E200A) : Details

well those lcd projection tv are soon going to be stopped and they also hava a poor contrast.

@vij well the sony KLV-46W300A has one of the best contrasts in LCDs only beaten by the more expensive sony KLV-46X300A of all the LCD put in display in the showrooms these two tv were the very best out there.they look and feel expensive.

Wow, anyone has any comments on the KF-55E200A

This thing will have bad viewing angles right...

I have one projection TV too and it has average colors and horrendous viewing angles...

Also wonder if it will be too big...I will be placing the TV across the width of the bedroom which means 10-12 feet viewing distance.

@adder

why not any 50" plasma....?

well like i said the KF-55E200A had a very poor contrast.

well in the plasmas 50 inch we found the panasonic TH-50PV70 and the samsung PS50Q91H to be good.after seeing those tv about two weeks later we visited the showroom again this time the sony KLV-46W300A and KLV-46X300A were on display.the detail and colors,black levels instantly made our jaws drop:O .also since they are 1080p with all kinds of connections and all tech stuff he went for it.i wish i had the money to buy that.:ashamed:

@vij

just take a demo if you can..since it is going to be in the bedroom i dont think viewing angles should be a problem..and this isnt like those older projection TV's ,saw a football match on this once..man it was awesome.

since ur viewing distance is only 10 feet u can easily see the pixels if its a 720p tv so it makes sense to go for the 1080p tv.

the difference in size is that the 50inch plasma will be 2.75 inches more in height compared to the 46inch lcd.

hey also consider the hitachi 50 inch plasma.. i think it should be about 1.7 odd lac.. but its not hd, just hd ready. if u want hd i would suggest klv-46w300a.. prob the best bet among 46" lcds around..

hey the KLV-46W300A is not only HD ready but FULL HD ready.

Hmm so 1365*768 res 50" plasma will show up bad at a distance of 10 feet :(...I cant place it along the length of the bedroom coz of Vastu concerns...damn...

Umm...ok what was the plasma that Anish bought...Was it full HD plasma...?

I wanted the 50" badly....but if it wont fit me then no point :(

I have the KF-55E200A in my bedroom. Its along the width of the room and the viewing distance is arnd 14 feet.The viewing angles aint bad at all but then I also have my bed directly opp the TV. The image is huge and the movies upconverted @ 720p looks really neat. Its fun to play NFS Carbon lyin on the bed on this one. Got this at 99K a few months back. Its 20k cheaper now and real VFM if you have the space..get the guy to throw in the stand for free too. And of course the images get better if you draw the curtains in the room...not a biggie for me as I only watch stuff at nights. I plan to use it fer a year or so till the full HD LCDs drop prices further.

well the image on the 50inch 768p will be something like this if u have seen a regular 29inch crt tv at 8 feet u will know what i am talking about.so the 50inch plasm wont come close to look like a HDTV at that distance

@espeez

Il have 10-12 feet max if its wall mounted...forget placing it in a stand...Also iam worried watching a 720p 55" projection TV at a distance of about 12 feet.

But Il take a demo and see what its all about...

Right now I am inclined to come down a bit and go for the 46" Full HD Samsung Mosel...Cant afford 50" LCD and the 50" plasma cant afford me at that viewing distance :(

well if u are going to go for a samsung then u can go for the samsung Mosel Blaque LA46M81B better then then the old Samsung - Mosel LA46F71B.
but the sony KLV-46W300A is the best 46inch out there in ur budget.
