this is my config.
I7 930 @3.3Ghz(on stock cooler)
msi x58 pro-e motherboard
g.skill 4GB 1600Mhz
HAF 922 Cabinet with two 120mm fans on side panel.

I want to overclock the processor to 4Ghz..Is Corsair H50 a good one??
My budget is around 5k.:)

depends on the RAM you are using ... you can go for D14 ... if the RAM heatsink is a bit oversized then the D14 wont fit ... which model/company ram are you using ? D14 should cost 4750 i think from TheItwares. IT would be better if you can provide the motherboard that you are using to.

Edit:

Not sure which model of G-skill mems you got ... if its the trident series then it might be fine... if its the PI series then the D14 wont fit.

I use the H50 and on my I7 930 i get around 78c max( in prime) at 4Ghz but the temps cant be directly compared as it will depend on what volt your 930 will hit 4G ... mine hits at aroud 1.28 some it takes more normal temps range in early 40c @ room temps ... i mostly run my 930 @ 3.85Ghz where in games the max it goes to is around 55 to 58c .

The NH-d14 is good. Just see that the RAMs do not have big heat spreaders. There is a review in the reviews section, done by me. You can see images there.

There is absolutely no comparison between the top of the line aftermarket heatsink and an entry level liquid cooling solution. If you were to compare the temps on load when the CPU is overclocked, the Noctua D14 is on par with the H50. I am not bad-mouthing the H50 here but I'd say stick to the D14 since your budget permits it. The D14 has an excellent build quality as well. I am assuming you have just paired 2 sticks of RAM with the board? So they are not working in tri-channel mode either but you could still use the D14 if you push the sticks to the last of the slots.

unfortunately in a X58 motherboard you cant put the memory in any of the slots ... if you are using only 2 dimm's then they need to be in slot 2 and 4 check the motherboard manual if you need a pictoral reference.

DIMM height (with heat spreaders) should be last of the worries. I have my Corsair XMS2 on slot 0, and slot 2. There is no issue. Ok, if you are using Ripjaws you might face an issue. There is enough space. Just should be measured. And as it is, its mainly the first fan which will hinder the DIMM, this can be raised higher, since the mount is clip-on. The metallic tower gives around 44mm of vertical clearance, and with the fan there is this much space. Even if Ripjaws 'were' used, the fan can be raised.

This is my set up. Note, it is the first DIMM module closest to the cooler.

TheITwares show it at RS 4400 pre - shipped. Here is their link.

Note:

Added a second image to my post #8, which shows where exactly the DIMMs align to the HSF unit.

Also just found this. The official RAM compatibility list from Noctua.
