Hi,
I need help in purchasing a new laptop. My requirements are as follows:

# What's your Budget? Under Rs. 35K

# What will be your primary usage for the notebook be? Document editing, web surfing, multimedia watching & conversion b/w various audio/video file formats, some light 2D gaming (eg. Cricket 2007 which runs fine on my Celeron/1GB RAM desktop)

# What size and weight considerations do you have? Strictly between 13" - 14"

# Any brand that you prefer, or any brand that you detest? No real preference

# Any other considerations? The following are my considerations:
i) Battery life should around 3hrs or more
ii) Shouldn't have heating problems
iii) Should have nice build quality & should last for 3-4 yrs

I have been doing some research on my own as well & am confused among the following:

a) Lenovo G450 for Rs. 33000. Intel Core2 Duo T6500/2GB RAM/320GB HDD

b) Acer 4736 for Rs. 32000. Intel Core2 Duo T6500/3GB RAM/320GB HDD

c) Dell Inspiron 14 for Rs. 35000. Intel Core2 Duo T6500/3GB RAM/320GB HDD

d) Compaq Presario CQ40 330TU for Rs. 33000. Intel Core2 Duo T6500/2GB RAM/160GB HDD

The rest of the specs between these 4 are more or less similar. Can someone please suggest which one I should go for among these? Any other suggestions apart from these would also be welcome.

Thanks in advance for all your help.

If the specs and price are similar, then go for Dell Inspiron 14. It should meet all your expectations. I suppose, Acer 4736 should cost you lesser. But if it is a matter of only 1-2K, then Dell would be a better choice.

Note: I use an Acer Aspire series laptop, and it has decent build quality. I wanted Dell, but settled for Acer as there was quite a bit price difference between the two when I purchased.

Dell has a very expensive after warranty service (so do other companies but dell is the most expensive of them)
Have heard that lenovo has a good build quality and has migrated from the think pad looks for its laptops...
So IMO should look for lenovo or compaq
Before buyin the compaq just check if the laptop model u purchasing is not in the defective model list(dont know how it is done as yet)
