Hi all, this is my first thread in TE...
I want to buy a pair of good quality earphones (preferably in-ear) for music playing (mainly metal, rock).
Budget is around 1000 bucks, but wudn't mind spending some more if it really makes a difference..

I have used creative ep 630, so i'm searching for something better than that...

Thanks for the reply!

I searched and found that PL30 is there, it has good reviews..Around 900..That fits the price bracket, but they are more than 3 yrs old..

So, Soundmagic has recently introduced E30 earphones, which are said to be better than PL30, in the same price range. Couldn't find it in any online store though..

So, can you suggest any other brand/model ?

If you want something cheap, there are the usual suspects like JVC Marshmallows for 550, PL11, PL21 and of course, PL30.

It seems to me that many online shops (like MP4Nation) would need to clean out their old stock of PL30 etc., before they list E30. Raz mentioned in one of the threads that he has ordered it. But E30 should be a bit costlier at $40 or so.

This is said to be a decent for the price, good bassy IEM with very good build quality - DUNU DN-12 Trident IEM Earphones [DUNU-DN-12] - $34.50 : MP4 Nation!, :: Low Priced MP4, MP3 Players and the latest scoop on the newest MP4 Player. I've not heard it, though I want to. So, I'll just link to this review - DUNU Trident and Hephaes Review.. I think Joker will review it soon.

Then there's NE-6/7m a bit higher, but I don't know who sells it here. It has decent bass quality with good quantity, good mids, decent treble, but good sound stage and overall a non-fatiguing signature. Seems like it is EOL as I see no listing on Nuforce site.

Xears Bullet - Xears Bullet XB120PRO Highend In Ear Kopfhörer | eBay - if you can get it for a bit cheaper - may be around 20 Euros shipped. They are not technically the best, but do have a very musical signature - good bass (but lower by Xears standards), forward mids, good treble, narrow sound stage, non-fatiguing signature. But, minimal accessories, not so great build quality, J-cord, the Big bullet housing are things to be considered. Here's a review by iaudio - http://www.techenclave.com/reviews-and-previews/3-budget-iems-a-noob-comparo-181448.html.

Updated: And this is just in time for you to consider. Pre-order of Brainwavz Beta 2 for $23.50 - http://mp4nation.net/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=51&products_id=553 (I have no idea about Beta / Beta 2, but have heard the Alpha, which was decent, but only for a sub-$10 price).

Thanks for your reply eshantosh!

Just ordered the Brainwavz Beta 2 preorder... :)

Hope they have good sound quality
