Please don't buy any Philips product if you are not staying in Delhi/Central Zone.
For if you face any problem then you need to make a STD call to Delhi for registering a complaint request with Philips Customer Care.
According to Philips Customer Care procedure..... one needs to register all his/her complaint with Delhi Customer care and not with any service center located locally.
Any complaint registered with service center is not recognized as a valid request by the Philips company.
Now here is one real problem that I faced.
I purchased a Philips home theatre Speakers from Philips. After 6 months it stopped working, so I found out a authorized philips service centre number (MRT Electronics) and registered a complaint. Which these guys told me will be rectified in a couple of days time. But they didn't turn up in the next 7 days even after repeated reminder calls.
Then I had to make a STD call to Philips customer care located at Delhi using my reliance land line. I WAS SHELL SHOCKED TO FIND THAT MY PREVIOUS COMPLAINT IS NOT CONSIDERED AS A VALID COMPLAINT BY PHILIPS ... AS WELL AS THESE GUYS EXPECT CUSTOMERS TO MAKE STD CALLS TO DELHI TO REGISTER ANY COMPLAINT. REDICULOUS!!

In the process I lost a whole week in trying to get service from autHorised service centre.

Anyway I registered a fresh complaint with Philips customer care and after 2 days a service eng. visited my place and left with the Philips home theatre Speakers "REMOTE" with an assurance that he is going to replace the "Remote" immediately.
ITS 3RD WEEK RUNNING SINCE I LODGED MY FIRST COMPLAINT AND TILL DATE THEY HAVE NOT RETURNED OR REPLACED MY PHILIPS HOME THEATRE SYSTEM "REMOTE".
AND I STILL CONTINUE TO MAKE STD CALLS TO DELHI TO GET IT REPLACED.

READERS ..... I LEAVE IT TO YOUR JUDGEMENT WHETHER TO CALL PHILIPS CUSTOMER CARE/SUPPORT A BUNCH OF THIEVES OR CROOKS.

ALSO THINK HUNDRED TIMES BEFORE PURCHASING A PHILIPS PRODUCT.

I have heard of Philips Service horror stories before. I made it a point to stick to DVD players only, if going for Philips. Though Philips HD CRT TV and Home Theaters are quiet tempting, I made it a point to stay away from them.

IMO, Philips is most VFM option among DVD players. I have bought 3 Philips DVD Players till now. The second one went bad after 1 year. Rest two still kicking but I wont be surprised if they go bad any day.

My final advice to everyone - stick to cheap Philips products like DVD players, headphones, toaster etc. Do not buy more expensive items. And do not expect long life of cheap products too. Just be happy that you bought a VFM option and keep your fingers crossed for future.

stay away from philips if you dont want ur system to fail after a some months....a lot of my frnds went for philips(hometheaters, dvd playrs, tvs)....50% of them had issues aftre some months..rest are working quite well

however never had any issues with gettin them replced.....the local shop keeper is gud..he takes care of things....in one case i remember there being a time delay of 2/3 weeks...

I have a simple rule about Philips branded products. "DONT BUY THEM !!"

I never buy anything made or sold by Philips since I had an extremely bad experience with their service centre about 20 years back. :@

Grudge not yet over. Their service centre was absolutely useless. Gave my expensive gadgets back saying they were unable to repair and returned them in a worse condition. An Electronic timer and a pH meter.

Someone gifted my Mother a Philips TV which spent more time under repair then in a working condition. :(

Same experience here. My HT system is not working anymore (maybe its a weak/bad lens issue) but the service centre chap came and sprayed compressed air on the lens and it worked temporarily. He happily took the 350 bucks as service charges and went away. Believe it or not the system stopped working after 1 hr. When called again the next day, he had the cheek to tell me that the lens is damaged and it has to be replaced. When I asked him why didnt he tell me that yesterday, he says that he was not sure so he just sprayed the stuff and made it temporarily work !! When I sent an email to the Philips Support online, they redirected me BACK to the same service centre !! Service is pathetic.

When i sent a mail to ask them whether the speakers were amplified or not and whether i can use the same speaker set with other 5.1 DVD player, they have not even bothered to reply and still keep directing me to the service centre !!!
