I need a good anti-glare filter for my 17" LG Flatron (E700S). Currently, I am using Frontech anti-flare filter but it only does half the job. My eyes burn after using the comp even for 1 hour. Also, I don't WANT any anti-glare filter with privacy protection. Budget is 1.2k max.

Naah dude, there is no use using thoose filters.Just turn down the brightness/contrast level to the level u feel confortable.

Im using that same monitor for the past 3 years at upto 15hrs/day and i didn't feel a bit of discomfort till now.

dude what about your refresh rate ? make sure its minimum 75+

if u use 1024*768,u can go up to 85Hz.Believe me,there IS a diff bitween 75 and 85.
But ppl do know..........i use 1024x768 & 100Hz refresh rate, with Both Brightness & Contrast levels decreased lower than the Mid Level on my Viewsonic 19" P97f..........& I AM STILL "BADLY" BURNING My Eyes!:S :'(

So,what i Need desperately is a Good/"BEST" Antiglare Screen that REALLY works! for my 19 incher

Hope sum1 has sum clue to solve/find the solution!:help:

If you use 1024x768 @100Mhz Refresh Rate, you'll burn out your monitor pretty soon pal.......

Well.....correct if I'm wrong, speaking in terms of computers...setting a high refresh rate is like overclocking your monitor, if it is designed to operate normally at 1024x768@85 hz, by setting it to 100hz you're OC your monitor :ohyeah: , you're making the monitor do too much work. The reason is that the higher the refresh rate, the faster the electron guns have to switch between colors for adjacent pixels, so in layman terms, your electron gun inside the monitor is firing electrons faster.

So if your monitor is suppose to last 5 yrs @70-85hz, it'll last 3 yrs @100 hz.

Mind that mine is a *PRO series monitor that can comfortably make a MAX refresh rate of 150 Hz............so me doesnot seem TOO much 2 worry there.Anyway, have 2 stay LONG hrs in front of the tube & also me have powervisions...........& hence the UP'ed-up refresh rates...............but still this BIG MOMMA is surely killing my eyes............so very much needed a sound advice to my monitor view strain problem! MAYB a ANTI-GLARE SCREEN for this 19" CRT that "REALLY" works!!! Do advice yaars!

OK,1st there is nothing wrong in setting 100Hz if ur monitor supports it.

Do u work in darkness?then try placing a small bulb (those 0W bulbs make a good choice) or a table lamp behind the minitor.

if u wanna buy good quality anti-glare, there is one shop called apson associates who sells highest quality stuff from 3M. person is mr.ranka. will find tel. no and post it tomorrow.

r the 3M AG filters "STILL" Available in the mkt?
Last heard from them(3M ppls) 5 yrs back when they replied 2 one of my e-mails & sent me a complete Advt.brouchere online......That's THEN.haven't heard them after...........so doubt if they r still in THIS business..........anyway,they were Quality stuffs.......mayb little xpensive.......but absolutely "Perfect" for the discerning few.who wants just the "right" stuff.........a few like "me" !
Well,AFAI(L)K,they were not mkt'ng for 19" inch varities........well may they do it now.....So do sum1 Update me who has the latest info !.IF THEY DO,I am one GUARANTEED Customer
.........andy.........Yeah they(3M) did have AG filters w/o PP,when i last heard from them........& that was LONG 5yrs back mayb in 2000AD...hav 2 RECHECK everything.......

So,sum1 do briefup their contacts & Product lineup plz.Mayb I really do need them!

@ techie :

how much is the distance from monitor of your seating?

is your monitor below your eyesight level ? it needs to be.

what kind of work do you do on big 19 incher? if you game a lot even AG filter will not help you out as constant changing scenarios will engross you so much that you forget to blink your eyes and you end up drying them causing watering.

whenever you add AG filter to your monitor you just add a layer of brown / black colour to enhance the contrast and reduce the incoming light.

but if you do not change your habits you are going to get burning eyes and watering anyway.

so ways for you :
put a light bulb in your room as said earlier or work in ambient light.
if you game a lot take a break of say 30 secs after every 8-10 mins.
keep blinking your eyes a lot.
keep your monitor slightly lower than your eyes.
most importantly keep a distance from your huge monitor.
(here i would like to mention one thing almost majority of people have 20/21 inch TVs in their house and you watch with distance of 7-9 feet while with 19 incher monitor you work at about 3-4 feet maximum thats the obvious reason for straining of eyes.)

3M people are the best in business so thats the only good brand i would trust. and do not forget to earth the screen as otherwise it will remain just a transparent curtain.
