PMP under 15000Rs from US?

Hi guys one of my friends would be coming back from US and i would like to get a PMP from there?

I have rounded on the following:

1. Cowon A2 (30Gb)

2. Cowon A3 (60Gb)

3. Archos 605 Wifi (IS there any Archos available similar to Archos 605 Wifi without the WIFI, i dont need WiFi)

Please feel free to suggest more options.:)
 
605,A3 & A2 are previous generation .. EXpect no support for them as they have been phased out ...
As pointed out earlier go for the new series as new patches and firmwares for them are out now
 
You can go for Cowon S9 32 gb which is a good buy and it has OLED display which is very good, you have to see it to believe it.
I personally have both Cowon A3(60GB) and Cowon S9(16GB).
The biggest drawback of Cowon A3 is that it is not portable.
So my nod will go for Cowon S9 and archos product have some sound issue which have been written in many online forums.

I will be carrying the PMP in my bag, so the size is ok i guess.

But does the S9 has a screen like the A3? Is it that big?
I thought S9 has 3".

If its for pure PMP purpose, the Ipod touch does not even come close to a Cowon S9, soundwise the Ipod is way back. Besides format supportwise Cowon players are way ahead too.

The only advantage the Ipod touch has is the touch screen, but dont think its a criteria for PMP. Oh and its a Apple product :bleh:

Cowon products are way ahead of Apple. I dont know why people buy that stuff.

Wi-Fi, the internet experience and the AppStore are the clinchers for me. I understand that these features may not be your top priority. Good luck on your purchase anyway :)
 
^^ AFAIK Cowon S9 has Wi-fi, but yep I guess Internet experience will be better of touch, partly due to the responsive touch screen, and partly due to the Apple GUI.

But TB soundwise there is a huge difference, and not to forget the format support of Cowon.

OP you have to head to Anything But iPod - MP3 Player Reviews & News for their reviews, do consider the Samsung units too.

Yeah u r right.

My Concern is mainly the Video and Music.

That's why i settled on the A3.

In case of Archos 605, i guess they charge extra for the plugins, which doesnt sound that good to me.

Wifi is not that imp to me.

So what do you think should i buy just considering a Large screen, video, music and some good storage space and also not to forget the battery backup.

Could i also directly order from Amazon using my Debit card or my bank account, so that my friend only need to collect it from US or would buying it from a store there be cheaper than Amazon?
 
Dude trust me u can buy a decent netbook in that budget too from US .. get a small one and enjoy .. No headache abt screen size and codecs etc :P

Haha Cant carry netbook to my office.
WOrk in an IT company DUDE.
They screen us everyday.
For some reasons the Security Guys think that MP3 players dont come under portable storage, so that is allowed.
 
OT how is the cowon S9?? .I am planning to get it. .Any suggestions are welcomed.My budget is $150~$170.I have used all of the Ipod's except the touch and creative ZEN.Loved the ZEN but it was flicked by my sis :@.I will not be using the PMP to watch videos.

PS : OP Did not want to create a separate thread asking for suggestions of a PMP under $200.

I don't understand the deal with the plugins. Aren't they available on torrents etc?
