Sharps ASS is pathetic , whenever i call the toll free no its either busy or takes a long time for some one to pick up & its almost always the same guy , i registered a complaint 4 days back , they told me some one will come in 24 hours , i have reminded them three times , no one has come, I was about to buy another sharp MV , will look for some other brand now .

ASS has to be handled promptly, sharp does not even have the required people to answer the toll free no .

I bought this Sharp AC after reading this thread but after owning it for a month i dont recommend this to anyone atleast in delhi , their ASS has been extremely frustrating , they just completely ignore any service requests , only way to make them respond is to contact the MD of sharp .

If you are looking for a inverter AC in similar budget there is a panasonic 1.5 ton inverter which sells for 37-40k & also comes with installation kit with 4m copper pipes or spend around 5-7k more for the LG which has superior build quality & miles ahead in ASS .[DOUBLEPOST=1370239460][/DOUBLEPOST]Read the comments on their facebook page everyone complaining about poor A.S.S http://www.facebook.com/SharpProducts

Smell coming from the AC whenever the compressor stops , their engineer visited once ( after i complained to the MD ) , he just told me to keep the plasmacluster ioniser on always & the smell will go away but that does not work .

That's generally due to lack of fresh air in the room.

^ could be the room is closed most of the time, i read that mold in drain pipe or tray in IDU can also cause this

And it doesn't matter if its a humid environment or not, stale air + condensation = fungi/moulds.

Leave the windows and door open for a few hours, it should make a difference

Hi Arjun,
I can very well understand your position. But budd,y same is the case with other cos as well...just look at the facebook page of LG. It is also loaded with complaints, infact more in number than Sharp (obviously bcos of greater sales of LG products).
I am also planning to buy an Inverter AC(1.5T). Confused between LG's BS-Q186C8R2 and Sharp's AH-XP18MV. There have been few concerns regarding the build quality of this LG AC. Also, there is no installation kit with this new LG AC, which means that for the LG AC one has to shell out atleast Rs 10k more. So, that's why I am getting inclined towards this sharp AC. But before that I would request you to kindly tell us how pathetic is the ASS. I mean is the MD reachable and do they work after u escalate the matter to the MD?

Also plz let me know the panasonic models which u were referring in ur post (costing 37-40K)

Please respond. Thanks in advance.

Sorry to know about Sharp Delhi's ASS situation. In Kolkata though their ASS seems to be awesome. One of my friend simply being awed by my Sharp ACs went on to buy their 40 inch led tv. Cost him INR 40k and picture quality is really top notch. Then during a power cut their generator in the society completely busted the TV's power board with its highly fluctuating voltage. My friend is also at fault in not using a stabilizer during this operation.

Raised a call at Sharp customer care, next day the service engineer arrived and found the root cause was a busted TV's power board and in-spite knowing this was done by a generator, replaced the board free of cost since it was under warranty within the next few days while advising to use a stabilizer.

@ Arjun, my Sharps do not produce any kind of smell. The foul smell in all probability is due to your locked up room containing stale air. Before operating the AC my advice is to open the doors and windows for at-least 15 mins with the ceiling fan at full speed. Let the stale air out. Then close the doors and windows and switch it on. I thing your problem will be addressed.

Wish you best of luck.:)

I was asked to pay nearly 19k to get my sharp lcd fixed which was just few days out of warranty. The power supply and mainboard of the lcd got busted due to unknown reason (sparks and smoke coming out of the tv). Thanks to the shopkeeper from whom i bought, was able to get it fixed for free. The lcd is just unbeatable for its price and so my friend later on purchased the same, with 3yrs warranty however.

Atleast LG responds to the complaints

I had problems with them from day one , right from installation to when i contacted them for this issue , the service center people never show up , after emailing the MD he emailed back and asked me to sms my mobile no , i received three calls from their service center the same day & some one was sent to look at the issue .

About the panasonic model , if you are in delhi i was quoted 37k by pankaj electronics this is their ph (011) 26132647 , not sure about the model , they have many branches in delhi .

The AC is on nearly 24/7 so room was kept closed most of time , room is opened for 30-60 mins in the morning , will open it at regular intervals now .

This is bound to cause foul smell. Mind you split air conditioners do not add any fresh air from outdoor nor let any stale air out, it simply re-circulates the indoor air over and over. With 24/7 on situation in a closed room with people inside any split is bound to recirculate the indoor smelly stale air over and over.

After 8-10 hours of operation open all windows and doors and let the stale air out.

So we can assume that for SHARP we have a RAM-BAAN i.e. to email their MD, (which unfortunately is not the case with other cos. ). Btw Arjun, why dont u send another email to him. Highlight the problems that u are facing every now and then.

Thanks for providing the contact details of Pankaj Electronics, will get in touch with them. Btw, from where did u get ur sharp ac ? and what was the cost ?

Thanks, Arjun.
Buddy, are you using any stabilizer for the AC ? The electricity is more or less stable in Delhi. So do we really need any stabilizer? Plus the Sharp ACs are rated to work on lower voltages as well.

Bought in last Nov, installed in Dec 2012. First real use in April 2013. Electric bill arrived on last week of May and was unbelievable. Two 1.5 Ton acs, one 8 hours of operation and the other 12 hours on a daily basis along with refrigerator, washing machine, microwave, pc, audio systems, tvs and all. Total bill payable INR 1330. :)

Hence refrained to post until now. Waiting for May 2013 electric bill.
This is unbelievable. :-)
Anyways, thanks for the reply. Plz keep us posted.

One more question for the AC guru :-). I am currently living in a rented accommodation and would be moving to my new house by the end of this year. Herein the distance between the IDU and ODU is not going be more than 1m (as the ODU can be fitted just across the wall), but I am not sure about this distance in my new house( it could be more than 1m for sure). So, in this current house should I make use of the entire 4m copper pipe or should I use just 1m of pipe and later get a new pipe for the new house ? I mean using a 4m pipe (when 1m would suffice) here is going to have any effect on the performance of the ac or not ?

Woah.. Sorry to hear that your are having issues with your AC...Sure ,i would agree with you on A.S.S part, after having the complained to their customercare ,they sent the senior technician to install the AC..

But in my case i am glad they handled the issue&sent the guy promptly..Will have to see how will their A.S.S if some problem arises, since during installations, all A.S.S would be prompt enough to attend since the installation involves money...

Hope i made a sensible choice, that only time will tell..:)

Before this,i had shortlisted panasonic inverter crystal AC for the same price....

Cant believe two AC's being heavily used&you get your bill for that amount, still good to know that inverter technology does help in saving power... :)

Infact after i going through your thread,i made up my mind to purchase sharp..:)
