Hi all,
I'm looking for a flash-based music player to be used while walking/traveling etc. While IPOD and IPOD Nano are two solutions both of them means I have to deal with the messy Itunes stuff. Does anybody know of any other flash music players which does not have ITunes. If It can play ogg, flac and wav files that would be an asset.

If anybody knows of any players or and model numbers would be grateful. If anybody knows of any shops or something where these could be available that would be also good. Anything around 16 GB or 32 GB would be nice to have. Good sturdy earphones would again be an asset.

Lastly, what is the warranty expected on such things ?

My budget Rs. 4k/-

Looking forward to answers.

I would personally suggest the Sansa clip+ (not the newer zip). I have read that the clip+ is still better than the newer zip. It is tiny enough to be used while jogging / walking etc and it has a clip too. Battery life is quiet good. Plays the formats that you want (see below), has radio too.
MicroSD Card support. Just buy a 2 or 4GB player and add a microSD card.
Cheaper than iPod and all and the older nano with touchscreen might not be a good idea for instances when you are jogging and such (personal opinion).

If you are interested in tinkering then it can even be Rockboxed.

From an amazon link...

The Sansa Clip+ MP3 player supports the most popular audio formats, including MP3, WMA, secure WMA, Audible, Ogg Vorbis, and FLAC.

To buy i would say, contact pristine note as they should have one with warranty (??)

Stock earphones might not cut so you are better off buying them separately.

I have been using Sansa clip+ which was bought through KMD a long time back. Still works awesome and god forbid if it died, i would buy a newer clip+ only.

Availability and good pricing are the issues here. I know about Sansa Clip+ but did not know whether they are available here or not and by here I meant Pune, Maharashtra. I think the Prime Note you are referring to is this :-

Pristine Note, Shop audio, headphones, amplifier, DAC, hifi, mp3, audiophile products online store India

If it's the same one then don't seem to have done a professional job with the site. Found only Sansa Fuze on the site SanDisk Fuze+8GB (WHITE) [Fuze+] - Rs.4,400.00 : Pristine Note, Shop audio, headphones, amplifier, DAC, hifi, mp3, audiophile products online store India

I am bit of a traditionalist so don't wanna go the online route. I can travel to bombay/mumbai and pick up from one of the channel partners Channel Partners : Pristine Note, Shop audio, headphones, amplifier, DAC, hifi, mp3, audiophile products online store India but that will be ONLY if there is no option.

Looking forward to answers.

Haven't onlined anything before and not gonna start now :)

Don't worry about pristine note and don't get scared by online purchases. You can call pristine note and tell them you are TE member and ask about the clip+. There are TE members here who have used pristine note and found them to be very good.

I am from Pune, and I got my Sansa Clip + from PristineNote. Awesome experience, no issues whatsoever. Only the clip on the player snapped coz my bag fell and I think there was something heavy in my bag that day.
I have Rockboxed my player and since then the player got a new life :D Trust me, I have never heard anything like this before, at this price point.

I just called up their number. It seems Clip+ is not available more or at least not available atm :( . They did tell they have a warehouse somewhere near Belapur highway. I can go there and see what stuff they have and then buy on the spot.
