Hey,

I installed an OS which to me was possibly Windows 8, I wont discuss the whereabouts / the source of my download as that will be against the rules.

But please do look at the screenshots

I felt it was & still is Windows 7 Enterprise but see the Last Image. I have Windows 7 Ent. but that is not my version!

this is a very early build leaked for Windows 8 .. hardly any differences from Windows7 but still it has a long way to go till RTM , and then only the actual changes in the UI and performance can be distinguished.

as bbthumbhealer says this is an early leaked release of windows 8 milestone 1(version 7850),there are three milestone versions in microsofts deep layers in development right now and when finished we will be getting our windows 8.this leaked release is available at ******* sites.
 
Last i heard, new features are still locked in the win 8 builds, so if you get your hands on a build you wont see much difference. I dunno where i read it though :P
 
^lets hope for that, we havent yet fully utilised the power of win 7, microsoft is coding win 8.
Seems like a waste of coding and upgrade:(
 
Not an expert to comment... But why a new OS so soon?
Microsoft sure took its time for Xp->Vista but faster Vista->7...possibly because of ****ing fail the vista was.
 
I've been fiddling with this OS for a few hours now except for the difference small User Options (as seen on the last image) there isn't any thing else.... atleast i didn't find any over windows 7.. the thing is quite unstable as well (not that i was expecting it to be at this moment). The Explorer Crashes when starting Media Player/ even the built-in Games. So i think it not even worth checking for difference right now atleast not untill the beta release.

They haven't changed the Obvious things like the setup / System Properties etc it still shows windows 7.

Well you are incorrect.

Misrosoft released xp, then came sp1 some time later.
After that microsoft rewrote and changed a lot of xp code and then came sp2. It was as good as a new os if you consider the changes under the skin. They did not call it a new os so that people could get it free considering xp had bugs.

After that came sp3 and xp64 bit. The 64 bit was again as good as a new os for microsoft.
After that they had again rewrote the whole OS for vista.

All this in the gap between xp release and vista release. microsoft came with sp2 and x64 versions which considering the work thtwent into them are as good as separate Os.

Windows 8 will have metro UI. This is going to be epic.:D
 
i think there will be less upgrades to windows 8 even if it will have better UI options over win 7. The experience will more or less be the same.

i saw a multiple desktops feature similar to Ubuntu/Linux in Windows 8 in some fan made image while browsing google images. i am really looking forward to such feature
