Possibly Windows 8

Hey,

I installed an OS which to me was possibly Windows 8, I wont discuss the whereabouts / the source of my download as that will be against the rules.

But please do look at the screenshots

I felt it was & still is Windows 7 Enterprise but see the Last Image. I have Windows 7 Ent. but that is not my version!

Haha I wonder why the hell u bothered to download it, I didnt. And my hunch was right:

Fake Leak of Windows 8 is Actually Windows 7

^ I for one don't depend on some other people's word (mostly if its via-via-via... you get the point right?)... if i want to know its a real deal / not i check it out..I do love Toms Hardware site.. but i don't believe everything that's on it

Slyck read the feedback from torrent sites and found comments saying that this is just Windows 7 renamed to Windows 8[\Quote]

I too read on torrents its a fake one... but i thought there is no harm in finding it out... as most of the people don't know what Milestone 1 / Milestone 2 means.

so i guess you have a "bad hunch day"

The Visual part of the OS that we see is what Microsoft designs only a little before its beta stage... (eg the System Properties, or About Windows) this all the final work for them... they concentrate on the core parts...

DO tell me if you know of any application that give you the pop-up menu seen in the last screenshot, as i would love to have that.

It is indeed legit. And yes, the UI changes & new features would be seen only after the Beta releases. And this is only Milestone 1 release. Nothing exciting ATM.

this windows is when i run Help, its the most revealing one "Search will be functional after M2"

There is something called "Location Provider Driver" under Turn windows feature on or Off. Also .Net Framework 4 is pre-installed & also have option for .Net 2.0 Also has something called Data Center Networking (L-LDPD) Link-Layer Discovery Protocol Driver

good for you

. if i want to know its a real deal / not i check it out

good work

i wait for people's opinions rather cause maybe irreversible damage to my comp or something worse, lose my data(wait, I have backup so scratch that)

This is your quote from the response you gave to another Member

See, I have nothing against you, but I hate it when people talk shit w/o any proof backing their words.

Now if you don't believe in what you say, you better shut up, because i have the proof that this is a legit M1, yet you said why the hell i bothered to test it my self, its called "Research" something that tech junkies do themselves & the reason you have site like TomsHardware & AnandTech & many more. the sites you actually rely on for your opinions wouldn't exist if everyone became like you & waited for others to tell you what the thing is exactly.

I am not saying go buy CPU's/ RAM's / any other product & review them to find out if its actually worth it. But if you are getting the software / any other products (whether free / only for testing) and have the means to test it out... there shouldn't be anything stopping you from doing that. As you can only gain only "so much" knowledge by reading but you gain a lot more knowledge & experience by actually experimenting and trying it out yourself.

You have way more reputation and posts than me, please try to act that way..

And also if you took the courtesy to look at the screen shots i posted, they are running on VMware.. So there isn't actually any irreversible damage that can be caused to my computer.

I would suggest you to do your research before posting such links.
The version that aasimenator is using is the M1 version.
Remember when Win 7 Milestones were leaked??? They had the build string of Win Vista. So does that mean that its Win Vista???

Milestone versions are always meant for checking the compatibility of the code (with current hardware) and to check the stability.
Once these are ironed out then the UI and other changes are introduced (mostly in Beta 1)

^ Lets not bully him anymore... i am sure he learned his lesson & will refer to more than 1 site before posting to a thread.

I also got hands on the same build and was a bit stable for me..

except for the media center is slow and I found many reg edits to unlock few of the features as acrobat reader(inbuilt) and few more(google for it).

Also you can have a look on new advanced task manager, Win Explorer Ribbon, web cam application, etc... which can be easily unlocked with a small app..
