I have a suggestion here.

can there also be a minimum time limit for posting in the market threads?

We have a requirement for editing posts, why not for posting in the market?

there have been quiet a few instances of late where ppl have been spamming away to increase their post counts.

Consider for example - hiviky2212

almost ALL his posts can be categorized as spam. he has reached 35 posts and what is the next thing you see?

A limit like membership for 2 months would be a much more effective means rather than just a post count.

You cant rep someone (increase his points) if you dont have any rep points yourself. Also the person who is repping you must have considerable points himself. Lastly you cant rep someone unless you spread some reputation points.

is it possible to set a small ( but positive) rep limit for this

and possibly a greater minimum period.stalker's suggestions do have merit. I'd hate to see TE overrun by spammers and wannabe sellers

i would say use rep scheam to allow a person to access restricted areas even if he is short on post count or such........

I agree with you in concept, rep points should give a better contribution from the new comers and minimize the spam towards market access.

and if that is implemented, people should be banned from asking for reps :P

else we'll soon have posts /threads asking for that sole purpose

Why is there an option to accept credit cards in market section??

Its probably cause the same iTrader platform is used across both Market/Dealer sections.

There's allready a guy asking for rep in p2p section:

Yes, there will always be misuse of posts/rep points. Adding a rep limit is just another hurdle that can be crossed. Plus rep points cannot be moderated as easily as post count.

One thing that cannot be abused at all (unless you're God  ) is the minimum days required after registration. IMHO 7 days seemed to strike a nice balance, but if necessary we can perhaps look into extending it a bit.

We do have a 7 day waiting period already defined btw.

* Minimum 35 posts
* Non-negative reputation points.(you start at neutral reputation)
* You must be a member on TechEnclave for atleast 7 days.

TE is becoming more of a sales ground for some people.....come - stay - sell - vanish.........lately lots of new members have joined and as soon as they complete their waiting period they start with something or the other in the market place.

Unless it crosses the limits of tolerance its no use implementing such things..

Too much control not good..

We already have many vigilant members who wil certainly report such people..

All that needs to be done is to report one post..simple..

Edit:- The mods can add a condition that if they feel a members contribution to the forum is not significant they can limit his use of the market section..simple..

Edit2:- I feel the part on "dealers should not give out their websites and phone numbers" should be implemented more strictly, there is no control on people simply seeing the deal and contacting the person on Pm or through his site..

Infact this point is way more important than the topic of this thread..Cause this leads to TE becoming an online shop..

:bleh: in old days/small towns shops were/are big contributors to creating community feeling :bleh:
but really whats wrong in contacting the person thru pm?
i did that that for the 3 trades i did (all as buyer though :P )
