Good lord,7500/- for a EB bill. I have 2 Ac's and we used them for 2 moths every night and I got a bill of 3700/-Rs. . . 7500/- is way too much.
7.5k is way too much? My bi-monthly bill for May-Jun was freaking 10k!

I have two AC's 1.5 ton each, one runs 16-17 hours a day and the other for 6-8 hours at night and in this period the cooler also ran for about 15-16 hours.

Panchkula's per unit cost is around ~5

My Bi-Monthly electricity bill in Punjab is over 6.5k- 8k with 1.5 ton AC 12-15 hours, 10 tubes, 4 fan, Fridge, Two desktop PC (Download 18 hours), Water pump(4 hours 1Kw), Microwave (2 Hours~ Daily), CRT TV 25" (16 hours on) and other as usual home appliances.

In Chandigarh its under 3K-4k with 1.5 Ton AC 15-18 Hours, One PC (6-10 hours), two fan,4 tubes, fridge etc.

we use three a.c bill 6500 family of four
i think u need to file complain . btw in rainy season ac consume more electricity

Man i envy your Bill. For a family of 4 here out bills are most above 10K. However i suspect the culprit here may just happens to be the 5th special member Lhasa Apso Fur ball dog who we labour and strive to keep always in AC.
Next time Indian conditions ,Indian dog. Gosh why is India so hot !!!

Are you guys running any Industries at home....With 1T A/c running everyday for 10 hrs daily one AMD pc, tv, fridge, Motor, Tenant consumption we are paying around Rs 1200~1400 for 2 months. Perhaps energy rates are lesser in Tamilnadu. 1~50units - 0.75 paise, 51~100 - 0.85 paise, 100-200 - Rs 1.20 and so on..

I used to pay 6K/month for a family of 4. A/C on for about 10 hours a day (average including all the A/C's - timers ftw), an LCD (Just one that's on for the most part), 4 laptops, a 300l and 200l fridge. It was ridiculous. We've cut down the A/C consumption and it's gone down by over 40%. Onida splits are power hogs :X

This time around my household consumption was 3620 Units of electricity (bi-monthly)

This is equal to a power consumption of 2.47kWh in one hour (1 unit = 1kWh), Im really surprised at my power consumption.

How much does a 1.5 ton AC consume electricity in an hour of usage? Can I get a kill-a-watt like product which would tell me how much power is being consumed by my ACs?

I bought a Videocon 1.5ton split AC three months back. Though I had my doubts about it, someone had recommended it to me...

This AC has been kept on for the past three months for about 14-15 hrs a day. (My dog needs it more than me :p)

Apart from this, the regular stuff like LCD TV + DTH, front loading washing machine, fridge, laptop, mixer-grinder, etc...

I was expecting a huge bill...but I was surprised to see a bill of Rs. 5800 for the past three months.

I think the AC is good at power saving. Maybe others should also consider Videocon when purchasing ACs...

Electricity bill is relative to ones region, How many units did you consume?

You gotta kiddin me, :O that is dirt cheap, you are paying change for power. Here in Noida(UP) its around Rs 3.75 per unit flat rate, Gurgaon is hell lot expensive,,,

Kill-a-watt is sham, the per hour a/c consumption depends on the load your a/c draws. you need to check your consumption in non-a/c months. you can then find out the power consumed by your a/c.

what is the star rating of your a/c? it depends on that..
EDIT: ohh BTW its unit consumption which matters more than the actual bill. Worry about unit consumption and not the amount. per unit charge varies from state to state and at times even city to city and it even varies in various months, it might never reflect in your bill though.

that is hellishly cheap... and no, running general household goods isn't an industry. :P

thats how surprised i was looking at the per hour consumption. seems very strange. but i've had it checked, the meter is fine.

even my next door neighbour got slapped with a bill of 9400 bucks....and she has a 1.5t ac apart from the other things. i think this has more to do with the stopping of the subsidy by the government. but thankfully the weather's now much more pleasant most of the time, so it seems everything's gonna be under control now. :)

i used to get a bill of Rs.3200/- every month for one room when i was in mangalore :bleh::bleh:, with a 1.5 ton a/c , 1 tube light, 1 CFL and a Fan and it was power cut from 9 am - 6pm every Thursday

I really don't think 7500 for two months is that much.

We are a family of four, with 2-3 ACs running for an average of 8-12 hours a day. The geyser runs for some time too.

We get up to Rs.20,000 for 2 months, especially in the summer.

And this is the regular Delhi electricity bill, not of diesel or anything.

So 7500 that too for two months isn't much.
