Hay guys, I wanna know my GPU's XFX GTX260 core 216 BE power consumption pattern.

Like when I gaming like crysis warhead and GPU works at full throttle.

When I play A full HD movie.

When I just surf the net.

When PC downloads from net and nothing else is going on regarding GPU.

I'm not worried about my PSU though Because I'm using Antec EA 650w just wanna know about power consumption pattern of my gpu in different scenarios.

And can I reduce my system's power consumption further during downloading apart from keeping LCD off.

^^^^^^^^^^

well for a start u can undervolt the processor to reduce power consumption when idle and gaming

then u can(riskier) undervolt the GPU as I have done which reduces load power consumption(my undervolt is 7%, so i expect TDP to come from 161W to about 150W)..

ur's is a 65nm GTX260 and XfX B.E. 680Mhz core so i expect it to consume same power as a GTX275 at load

MY XFX 260 GTX 896MB DDR3 Black Edition (GX-260N-ADBF) specs are like that.

GPU clock: 666 Mhz

Memory Bus: 448

Memory Type: DDR3

Memory Size: 896 MB

Memory Speed: 2300 Mhz

And I don't know GTX 275 numbers as well.

And what about when I play A full HD movie and when I just surf the net?

As I don't think card could be in idle state when I play full HD or any kind of video for that matter only percentage of GPU uses could be different so if you can give me an idea of power consumption of GPU in those applications.

@OP:

You can use this link. No exact science predicting power consumption. It has a drop down, where you can choose the system load. As it is the GPU/CPU power down when not stressed. Not sure, if the undervolting will really make an earth shattering difference.

Brother you are making it different ball game all together.Yes I know my whole system approximate power consumption and by now I know my GPU's approximate power consumption at full throttle as well.

Know I just wanna know how much power my GPU should consume when I'm playing full HD video which is not a idle state of GPU AFAIK and secondly how much power it will consume when just downloading from net is going on.

GTX260 Core 216 is based on 55nm with TDP ~162W but Your is a factory Overclocked to 666Mhz from 575Mhz default speeds, so expect TDP of around > 180W and that puts your card in territory of 65nm GTX 260(182W TDP)

For full 3D performance mode, power consumption varies. Worst case would not be greater than its TDP.

For Idle/2D mode, between 25 -30W

For 1080p HD Playback, between 35-40W

When downloading- Zero Watt

When browsing, GPU will be utilised when viewing Flash based content/Video. For normal browsing i think it should consume same as 2D mode..:)

My XFX 4850 XXX Edition underclocks from 650/1050 to 165/1050 when in idle. But when I use HW Monitor to check if the Power consumtion decreased..sadly it stay's at 1.26v at all time. I don't know if it consumes lesser power at idle state. :(

Thanks dude that is the kind of reply I was looking for.

BTW are you sure about that GPU consume Zero watt When just downloading
going on, if it is a fact then that is a great news for me because I was mainly worried about 2AM to 8AM period (six hours of plain downloading) power consumption of my GPU. And for that period I was looking for some step-down solutions.

Guys what could be my total system power consumption during downloading (2AM to 8AM) excluding both displays and speaker system as obviously they remains switched off during that period. You can see my system's configuration in my signature.
