PC Peripherals Power Sockets Issue

Guys,

Please help me out with this.

I have:

1. Belkin Economy power strip

2. APC 550VA UPS

Should I connect the power strip to the wall socket and plug in the UPS to the strip's socket? [ Mains -> Strip -> UPS ]

Or should I plug in the power strip to one of the two UPS sockets? [ Mains -> UPS -> Strip ]

Any reasons?

The problem is that I need sockets for: modem, speakers, monitor and CPU. The APC UPS has only two sockets at the back (if I'm not wrong).

Use following only...

[ Mains -> Strip -> UPS ]

If you connect Strip to UPS then unnecessary load will increase.. I am myself using same config for my APC UPS since last 3 years...

Though UPS manufacturers recommend UPS to be connected directly to mains, its not always possible with so many peripherals & only one power socket.. I would recommend to use output (Mains) with at-least 16Amps rated & then you can connect Strip --> UPS..

^well my setup is also a bit same..

it's like Power--->Extension--->UPS..

using it for last 9 months & is working like a charm..

even i'm having APC 650VA UPS & i've connected my speakers to Surge Protection only.

@OP just connect monitor & CPU to UPS & rest of the stuffs to the surge protector..
