Power supply + heatsink help !

Hi guys ... i've a problem and also i want to ask abt something ...
The thing is .. i just got a new mb + processor + ram .. all's done .. now the thing is my p.c. suddenly reboots.

I've a Quad core Q6600 processor [2.4 GHz], 4 GB 800 MHZ Transcend ram, and a g31 gigabyte motherboard. I'm using a standard 300 V SMPS.

Some of friends say that it can be the reason for reboot. [And I also think its the smps] coz i changed the ram and checked it still reboots.

I just wanna confirm that if buy a new power supply .. will it solve the problem or is it anything else ... ? Boyyy .. m really messed up ..

After a lot of thinking i've decided to with .. Corsair VX 450W Power Supply ..
Also my room is pretty hot in the summers so i've decided to with a heatsink to .. SUNBEAM core contact freezer ..

I just wanna ask ... m i going right :huh: .. or i shud make some changes ... ?

I dunt my budget to go beyond .. 7.0 -7.5 k for the smps and the heatsink ..
 
VX450 and sunbeam CCF are the 2 of the best-in-class products and also the most vfm products out there now- one can't go wrong with either. :)

But do check if there are any issues with using a CCF on that mobo you have.
It can only be fitted one way on certain mobos due to the NB heatsink being where it is and fitting the other way round may deny access to 1-2 of the RAM slots. :)

Your PC case/cabinet also has to be wide enough to accomodate the fairly tall CCF. :)

Hummm ... The Mb is .. "GA-G31-S3L" and I think it shuold 've no issues but i'l check with the dealer too.

And well .. the case is pretty tall & Huge .. although its not branded .. ;)
 
Well if you are running this rig, why dont you look at something a little more powerful in the smps part, as it will take care of future upgrades also. Maybe something is the 550W range?

I'm Thinking the same .. the same corsair thing cum's in 550W ...
Just a couple of more days .. then m off to lamington. :hap5:
 
go for vx450 straight away (thats if you get it :( ..damn its so hard to get one now :( ) also sunbeam ccf is nice...

and your current smps is murderer :|

I forgot to ask 2 things- sorry.
Which gfx card and will you be OCing?

Else if not OCing and sticking to a not very hi-end gpu, VX450 is more than enough. :)
 
Well, for the moment .. I dunt have plans, i wanna collect some more knowledge before trying that stuff .. i wanna play it safe for right now ..
maybe in future i'll try oc stuff ..

I've an XFX 7800 GT Gfx card. [No plans to buy a card as yet]

The thing is .. I wanna light up rig .. m gonna fit in around 6 led fans .. :D
Also Currently m using 320 HD...
I've plan to add 1 more .. maybe a 1tb or 1.5tb

I really dunt mind spending a couple of more thousands if the power supply is future proof.
 
actually ....go for most expensive psu which u can afford !!! all of them are fine ; Corsair , TAGAN , antec , ...........bcoz suggetion will keep coming and it is U who gonna spend money....

Lol what a ridiculous suggestion!

For the requirement, a VX450 would easily suffice but just in case you wish to spend a bit more, you could get the TX650/Antec Earthwatts 650. :)

HX620 is priced almost the same as what it used to retail for 2 yrs back. :S
