It is a GO stepping, it was overclocked at 3.6 Ghz.
I was using a v8.
Very weird problem came up, the o-ring screws holding the plates to the cooler broke causing air gaps, and bending of big screws holding the bracket to the mobo. At that overclock, the temp suddenly went to 65c idle, and 90c at just cause 2, before I shut it off, I never expected this kind of quality from coolermaster :no:. I mailed them and waiting for responce.
After that The core started showing problems,
RMA'd the core and now it's working fine.
This is a secondary pc so the attention has been lasy.
Plus, my father has declined any online purchase. (Wanted to buy from pheonix
)
Now I have a couple of questions
I'm reconsidering my options.
The main objective is to do justice to hd 5970.
1. Will a i5 750 or 760 overclocked, avoid bottlebecking ??
2. Will a i7 950 overclock more than 930 or 920 with the same cooler(h 50)?? Basically any difference between them in terms of overclocking performance.
3. For an i7 it will be a ud3r or ud5. What for an i5 which can overclock it to 4ghz easy.
4. Currently it has a 650W coolermaster. Will there be a need for upgrade??? If yes, will corsair tx 750W be enough or higher??
