Hi,

I am currently on the lookout for a printer and i would greatly appreciate some suggestions.

My requirements are -
1. Around 30-40 pages , mostly consisting of text, majority of which shall be b/w with a few lines/text titles in color.
2. Don't care much for fax feature, scanner of good quality is a priority.
3. Different catridge for different color dyes is a must.
4. Would like something that is not too costly to refill.
5. Budget criteria is only one i.e. VALUE FOR MONEY.

So ANY Suggestions PLZ ?

LOL !!!

Damn i didn't want it to fall flat on face like that.

Well actually on every printer buying guide that i have seen, they have recommended buying printer which has different color catridges, the logic that they give is that not all colors are used equally while printing color printouts and the cost of refilling different color dyes is far less than multicolor, reason they give are the following
1. cost of the multicolor dye is costlier.
2. You can just refill whichever color is low on ink, which gives more output per catridge compared to multicolor catridge.

I have searched for quite a number of them, from CNET to anandtech, to harwaresecrets, every one recommends going for different color dyes.

If it's not too much trouble can u try and put your POV in words and the logic behind using multicolor, and why u think it is cheaper

Also in multicolor only i was looking at HP K209 printer, it's a AIO printer and the output on HP's website is mentioned as 600 pages per catridge under stipulated conditions, Which is quite good for an Inkjet printer.

What do u think about this printer ?

Any more suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks !!

^^ Really not aware of the HP K209a all-in-one, but priced around ~ 6000/-. The claim of 600 pages per cartridge is @optimal settings and paper type and workload its just a standard you might get more or less depending on your usage.

See individual ink tanks cost ~ 520 / per tank [for Canon all-in-one models] with so total cost of buying a set of Cyan + Magenta + Yellow tanks ~ 520 x 3 = 1560/-

Cost of individual BlacK ~ 520/- [for Canon] -- Theitdepot - Toners And Cartridges.

For HP all-in-one printers with Single CMY tank cost ~ between 425 / per tank [home all-in-one printers] to 1090 / per tank [office level all-in-ones].

Cost of BlacK cartridge ~ 420 / per tank to 900 / per tank [using same scaling] -- Theitdepot - Toners And Cartridges.

Now as I'm not good at Maths I'll leave it to logic that isn't it easier to swap a single color tank once it is exhausted instead of individual tanks over time which will accrue a greater amount of money spent, also the quality of the prints is very good in both Canon Pixma series as well as the HP Deskjets, so final decision is yours bruv.

:ashamed:Well i bought the HP K209g AIO printer, and I am pretty happy with it, the approximate output per catridge is 600 pages for black catridge, and 250 pages for colored catridge.

Also the scanner is pretty nice as well, and so is the photocopier option, plus the rate of HP703 catridge @425/- is quite less than the competition.

ALL in ALL i am pretty happy with my purchase
