dont worry its not that each and every series 5 lcd will develop problem, and if you are still in 1st yr of warranty then call cc and ask if you can get an extended warranty.you can also contact your dealer and ask him if you can get extended warranty from company.

there was a recent consumer report which state that max.complains about lcd display is from samsung and least from panasonic,

but that can also mean that samsung sell most lcd display so most complaind while panasonic sells least lcd so least complain.

Looks pretty bad. Even i have a Samsung series 5 LCD which i bought only two weeks back. Need to check about the extended warranty. If anyone got any info, kindly share it here.

Also these issues, could they be panel specific ? Considering he has got an AUO mfd panel.

^yes i also think so,it is because of the panel lottery system this problem may be occuring,if you get a lesser quality panel chances are more for display problem.but as i said earlier it does not mean that each and every 5series will have problem

here are some quotes about panels by one member in another forum dont know how accurate they are

"Know this, Panasonic's LCD panels are made in Japan at a facility owned by Hitachi where they make the panels for them selves, Panasonic and another Japanese electronic major it is either Sharp or Toshiba.

Sony's panels are either from Taiwan or China. Samsung has their own plant in S.Korea but get some panel from China and Taiwan also and I have no idea about LG. Forget Sony, they were King as long as they were making Trinitron CRT tvs. They do not make the LCDs themselves, yet charge for the brand and that is why their low range tvs are crap and the high end ones are priced in the Stratosphere."

Can someone please check and describe the "3" yrs warranty from Panasonic?

From what i have heard, it's not much different from others and technically is 1 year only- remaining 2 years is paid parts/labour IIRC, which other brands do too. :)

yes got this from their mirror ad yesterday.

so no difference after all than the samsung TVs.

this is what i got regarding the 3yrs warranty from panasonic

"Panasonic india warrants the television for two yrs along with regular one year warranty(1+2)from date of purchase including the panel.

this warranty covers all the repairs but does not neccecerily entitle for replacement of the product"

"extended warranty is applicable only for models with suffix 'D' "

so it nowhere mentions that it is paid i think it is full fleged warranty which includes panel also as clearly mentioned

I got my warratnty extended at purchase itself for 3.5k.They said extention is possible ONLY at purchase-they might be wrong though.

The store i bought from said Panasonic's extra 2 yrs of warranty they come with only cover labour,so if your panels gone you will have to pay for the panel but not for its labor.

AFAIK extended warranty can be taken at any time within 1st yr of warranty but the extended warranty you get will also include the 1st yrs also

like if they say you get 3yrs warranty so it does not mean 1yr+3yrs warranty but total 3yrs i.e 1+2yrs

Errr.. Does the lottery continue with the LEDs ? I dont think so. This was an issue with the LCDs. Even then if you want to check, you'd be lucky if the version is given in the sticker on the box (which I dont think so). If not, only option is to open the box and check. The retailer I went to had no issues in doing that
