hey guys,

i am facing a strange Problem with my netbook's keyboard from yesterday...

Keys four, five, seven, nine, dash and P not working!!

keys,given on the heading,have stoPPed working all of a sudden:S

what's this?

is this due to moisture as i am from varanasi and the humdity is >90 these days?

the T.V. remote has also stoPPed working suddenly:(

helP me!

Go to the manufacturers site and follow instructions to disassemble the netbook and remove the keyboard. Clean it with a can of compressed air or carefully remove any dust, lint etc.

Of course if it's in warranty call them up. Had a similar problem with my Dell (Fn key was getting pressed on its own.) Called service and they replaced it withing a day. :D

i am not that noob:bleh:.....batteries aint the problem.

one thing to notice is that yesterday five keys were not working and today i find ten of'em not working:S

BTW the netbook is acer asire one 751h bought from costco New York last year

can you make sure that nothing spell on the keys..

it may be some liquid substance, the keys seem to be in local area with each other.. that can be an effect of the circuit going bad physically somewhere as connections are parallel to wach other in those keyboards.

call the customer care before the substance goes past the keyboard and damages other internal parts whic would be costlier to replace.

absoulutely no liquid came into contact with the keyboard....can't the increased humidity be a reason for this?

yesterday ,first time when i came across the Problem ..i found the alternative keys to be bad /////four was working ,five wasn't ,six was ,seven wasn't ,eight was,nine wasn't:S

today four to equal/Plus aren't working and P and oPen bracketfall in the same category

may be you kept open at night & mice or meow use it as Toixxx

took it to a local acer service center

he said without opening the laptop and switching it on-

"moisture is the reason for this....carbon chain running on the tray is affected and damaged by moisture!!! no cure | only replacement(it's not under warranty) of the whole keypad"

he says that he has to check whther the parts of this 11.6 incher ACER ASPIRE ONE 751h is available in India!|???

when asked bout keepin it under sun he said-"try it,chances of gettin it fix are less"

??what to do?
 
Also Consult an after market service person to be sure..preferably those who sit along side the side lanes at abig market like lamington road.chances is getting coned at a reputed service center are more, most will simply force replacement thereby repairing your old keyboard and reselling it...that is how they generally service.

A hair Dryer is a much better option of drying out the moisture then the sum IMHO as it can reach deep inside the netbook

However, experienced members may like to examine the side effect of hot air on other components & advise
