Graphic Cards Problem with my onboard graphics... need help :(

I've a ASUS P5GC-MX/1333 motherboard with Intel 945GC onboard graphics.

Since 2-3 weeks, I've been experiencing low frame rates in my games. I currently have only CS 1.6 & Warcraft III. I observe that during gameplay, the game lags horribly reaching a frame rate as low as 10fps. What could be possibly wrong? Can someone plz help? Do note that I do not get problems with the OS, it is working perfectly fine. And also the games that I play are not that high end games. Is something wrong with my onboard graphics or the problem is somewhere else? Please I need your help......

Umm....You say that since 2-3 weeks so did the games work perfectly before that and also can you check if your games are at the saem visual settings

Yes, they worked absolutely fine and they are at the same settings... Think about it.. CS 1.6 isn't a game that'll suck on 1GB RAM with 128MB onborad graphics....
 
Any kind of background activity, probably a new service or something. a system restore should be your best best to see if its any sw related issue which it might be.
 
reinstall ur display drivers and also scan for any trojan and worms...

Done that and none found.... still the same thing..

No new service present. I myself manage all the services running in the background.

However, I noticed something interesting while connecting my PATA today :

- If I leave my cabinet completely open, without the side lid and the dust cover, I do not experience any lags.

- If I connect only the side lid, the lag changes from 10fps to around 30fps.

- If I connect both the lid and the cover, I experience IMBA lag.

Judging from above, could overheating be a problem? If yes, of what? The CPU or the GPU???
