well i got a new connection a couple of weeks....just took the 2 mpbs 40 hr pack for trial...
I have a dsl connection...which i am using in bridge mode...

the connection is really fast n all...but while downloadin after a few seconds the speed drops to zero(both upload n download)...and then the speed picks up again!
and this happens periodically :(

Is this happening with any other TATA users?? and this any workaround this?

hey but what has dns got to do after the domain is resolved?? he says it goes down in the middle of the download...

sometimes i too had this prob.. but it was alright after a few days..

lol DNS has nothing to do with downloading files . its only while BROWSING . check your router , Wrath . have you checked your line ? make sure it has no joints , use a proper splitter

@ broar94 : to the best of my knowledge everything on a dsl works purely on a DNS unless it is a unique static ip given to the computer. The DNS is static and that is how everything works.

So according to ur basis ...if my DNS goes down ....and u give me a DOWNLOAD link...... i should be able to download the file ? however i wont be able to open the websites ???? ....so how will the download URL get resolved in the 1st place :-s

once its gets resolved.. what the need of the dns... so after you start the download there is no role for the DNS.. btw he specifically said
but while downloadin after a few seconds the speed drops to zero(both upload n download)...and then the speed picks up again!

so its in the middle of the download.. when the domain is already resolved...

Sure dude . DNS resolves addresses into IP addresses . If I give you a complete server address(ip address) (lets say for downloading a file) , it will download . but for a URL , no it won't . it will give you a "page not found" error :)

@broar94 :
i aint pro abt that i really dunno was really expressing wat i knew.......
so wat i understand from ur explanation is as follows....

if the website www.i-want-this-website.com has a file "download-this.exe" so when the dns is down if i type...

"www.i-want-this-website.com/download-this.exe" it wont work

on the other hand , if the ip of the website is 111.222.33.4 then doing -

111.222.33.4/download-this.exe should work ?

..........

wat i have observed with my isp is even if my dns is down....and if i ping say Google ...it will show the ip resolved YET show "request timed out" ping replies.
would try again vice-versa the next time.....

change of DNS hasnt worked....the new DNS i got make the browsing damm slow infact!!

lol DNS has nothing to do with downloading files . its only while BROWSING . check your router , Wrath . have you checked your line ? make sure it has no joints , use a proper splitter

well there is an open joint...the tata guy said they dont have the splitter right now...any idea where i can get the splitter?

get someone to clear that open joint . for best internet browsing experience , there shouldn't be any joints . I don't recall anyone saying splitter is a must ... Why don't you go back to TATA and ask them for one?

TATA guys keep sayin they dont have one!!

now the best thing has happened...the ADSL link has gone!!! :@ :@
Last time it happened someone had cut the wire!!! damm this cable mafia thing sucks!! :@ :@

And the TATA response is the lasiest....last time they took 4 days to fix it!
