I have never used linux before, these days i am trying UBUNTU 8.10 and it has been fine with me till now. I was able to connect to the internet using Nokia E51 phone without installing Nokia PC Suite. ATI CCC works fine. The Ubuntu "aero" also works. Only problem i faced is mild jittery high definition playback and very low sound, prolly because it needs 200mb+ updates which i dont have patience to d/l from phone rofl.

Try it.

@ Vishal: Any tips on 8.10?

For low sound, double click the volume icon and raise the level of multiple sliders, not just the main volume.. there are others like "PCM", "Front" etc... that will boost up your volume...

The mild jittery playback may be due to the vsync setting being OFF which you need to turn ON in ATI CCC. Else try disabling Compiz ("aero" as you call it) during video playback...

Your Q6600 like mine should be able to handle full HD playback, except I have nvidia and have enabled vsync in the driver applet...

Tried all that, nothing worked, i think its the updates prolly

PS: My old E2140 at stock was able to handle 1080P without any problems.

Buddy no probs with connecting to the internet, in fact i am in UBUNTU 8.10 right now. Problem is video playback, just noticed, its HD and normal playback as well. Earlier i had changed settings to maximum quality in ATI CCC, changed that, still same issue :baby:

I am using UBUNTU 8.10 NOT Mandriva yaar.
