problem with windows xp home edition sp2

hi friends, when i start up my computer, everything appears to be working fine.bit ,if i leave it runningfor 3-4 hrs. it stsrts giving problems, like images from 'Help & Support' disappear,font changes, number of XOX r displayed in the message along with small red crosses within black squares. IE6 installed on my computer HANGS.but after restarting, all these problems disappear for next 3-4 hrs.i have already disabled 'third party browser extensions.
as i am a newbie, detailed steps would be a great help.thanx.

clean format and reinstall is ur best option i guess....

Do you have an external gfx card? It might be overheating but it would usually be observed in games.

hi sydras, i do't have an external gfx card.everything is built-in.can overheating cause such problems?thanx for replying

Unless Your Computer Was Built In The 1980s,Overheating Can't Cause These Specific Problems,And Since It Starts Only After A Certain Period,You Can Rule Out A Virus....
Your Best Bet Is To Reinstall.
