Hi guys this is my first post on this forum, I am a complete newbie and am looking at some help from you guys.I have a budget of 10k for processor+mobo and am strictly looking at AMD.I will be buying everything locally, that is kolkata. My comp will be mainly used for aplications like Sound forge, ableton, photoshop & its likes. It would remain powered on for periods of 10-12 hours, if that makes a difference.

Any help will be appreciated.Thanks.

AMD AthlonII X4 620 with Biostar TA785GE/ TA790GXBE will be your best bet in this range. Will set u back by around 9.6k ...

+1 for the above config as you want an AMD system.
AII X4 620 is a nice multitasker which you require.

^^amd 620 is better but he doesnt need a gaming pc he just needs it for applications, so he wont find much of a difference when he'll be using applications in a e5200 system or amd 620 system as the apps that he op has mentioned doesnt require 4 cores to run and e5200 is way better when it comes to overclocking and also it will run cooler than a amd 620 anytime.

SoundForge, Photoshop and other Video, Audio, Image editors will surely benefit from the extra cores !!! And complete newbies (as he stated himself to be) mostly refrain from OC and stuff. So all in all, 620 is better for the OP than E5200.

+1 for the 620! E5200 is just not worth the money. Even the Athlon II X2 240 is better than the outdated E5200. The Biostar TA785GE 128M is the best choice for mobo as it has excellent onboard gfx. It shares RAM to become 640MB HD4200 onboard GFX, which is good enough for Crysis at low settings.

better go for this dude,

x2 550be - 5.5k
asus m3n78-em - 4.3k

total 9.8k

This is the one which i am having and i must say its simply superb....

It will be good for gaming also apart from your necessity....

thanks a lot for your suggestions.I am somehow inclined towards the x2 550be.I like the M3n78 motherboard quite a bit but does it support AM3 as the processor is a AM3 socket?

I am just asking this because the ASUS site does not state that it supports the AM3 socket.

I think I can even get the Biostar TA785GE/ TA790GXBE, can I?

yea .. u can get the biostar mobo as it is cheaper (if not same) than the Asus board. If u think that a Dual core will do good for you, then 550 BE is also one hell of a processor. Much better than E5200-E7400.
