Projector -- For Home Entertainement

dont have any recommendation on model but based on experience on buying one, goto the shop and see the model working and then buy online if you buy cheaper. just reading specs wont be of much help :).

also, when you goto shop, ask him to let it run for 15 mins and see the noise also.

That happens. Many times you can get better deals from dealers than from dell themselves :p Usually the rep you talk to also decides wat to price the product at for you :p

OMG !!

Infact i am trying to negotiate with rep .. with reference to prices given by dealer. no doubt it is a better idea to buy from dell itself.

Ok Good Thing .. In DLP type projector .. there is no chance of Deal Pixel/spot and cost of replacement lamp in case of dell is just 6K !! as compared to 15K in case of Sony ...

Thanks for info.

I am also banking on reviews by reputed magazines/online sites.
Any i/p would be highly appreciated ...

Dealer is ? I have one guy who sells optoma projectors . He installed onkyo over my place. He gave me huge amount of leaflets of Optoma once asked him for a quote and gave me price written on them. However it was very confusing for me...

let me know if you need his number.

If you are travellling to Chennai or know someone there,
I am told used projectors are available on Ritchie St for Rs 10k to 15k.
I believe they also have good deals on used, older models of high
end audio stuff - names like Nakamichi etc.

dell has also launched a cute lil pocket projector , though I am not sure about pricing.

googling out reveals USD 499. translates to roughly 25k if the same price is carried in India

Thanks for info. Infact mobility is not on my list .. however thanks for update.

go for HD Projector man..atleast 720p !

like this one man

http://cgi.ebay.in/PANASONIC-PT-AX200E-2000-LUMENS-LCD-PROJECTOR-WARRANTY_W0QQitemZ300289025997QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_203?hash=item300289025997&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66%3A1|65%3A1|39%3A1|240%3A1318

It looks pretty descent..you need to buy a projector which supports HD format now.. Dell one looks like for presentations n all, even have low contrast ratio.
