I knew AvP, but didn't really get the other part... it doesn't matter. There is always Pallika Bazaar/Burma Bazaar/ VT etc....

To be fair to Sony, MS has been coming under fire themselves after it was revealed that the upcoming RPG from Japanese devs Mistwalker would take up to three DVD's worth of space.

So are you saying that people will have to switch DVDs in the XBOX while playing? That sucks. But I am still not sure that a game really needs that much content in terms of size. Compression is something they need to look into. I don't see why they can't have a small chip (obviously it is too late to do anything now) or circuit within the main processor that enables rapid compression/decompression.

That would backfire. HD-DVD is an add on, (and an expensive one at that). No developer would take a chance and sell a game that requires HD-DVD if it is not a standard part. It is sort of chicken and egg.

Yes. The funny thing is if you've seen pics of the game, graphically it's nothing too special so I can only assume more than two of those dvd's will be stuffed full of hour long FMV's. I still love the art style though, very smooth and nice effects.

MS could gradually switch game formats to HD-DVD. A costly but maybe necessary solution would be to have games on both formats for a while with the HD-DVD format clearly having the graphical advantage. With time and reduction in the X360's price they could even have the HD-DVD drive built-in.

I don't think so. Its going to be extremely hard for M$ to try and change the media format for games in X360 now. Even if they factory integrate X360 with an HD-DVD drive, you'll still have to force all 5mil+ customers with X360 right now to buy an HD-DVD drive just so they can play the games. Which will backfire like nothing before. People aren't ready to buy a Ps3 just because it includes a Blu-Ray drive which bloats the price, they sure as hell would rather give up their X360's and buy a Ps3 than to get the HD-DVD upgrade.

In any case, I don't think the 3-disk editions are going to be any problems. X360 players are trying to justify the scene by bringing in FFVII. It too was released a year or two after the Ps1 released, and also packed 3 disks. If it wasn't a problem then, it won't be a problem now.

Which is why I said MS should introduce HD-DVD gaming gradually. Many people are willing to spend lots on buying an HDTV just to make the most of their consoles so I don't see why they wouldn't do the same and get an HD-DVD drive provided that the difference is there of course.

Ofcourse if M$ give a chance to choose between swapping 3 DVD's or a singled HD DVD, ppl will eventually opt for the HDDVD sooner or later, HD videos would be a bonus :)
