not all the games support keyboard and mouse controls.

the only PS3 game i know of which works with keyboard/mouse is Unreal Tournament 3

There is a special gadget called the Sniper 4.0 which allows you to use a keyboard and mouse with an Xbox or PS3. The only problem is that

a) You can only buy it from abroad (Play-asia.com ships stuff to India)

b) Its bloody expensive at around 4k !

I got the FragFX Controller for $49.

IGN: SplitFish FragFX PS3 Review

It lets you play the FPS games with mouse and a second Wii nunchuck like controller which has an analog stick on it. I played ROFM with it and it was much more convinient than playing with a Six Axis controller.

there is also a wireless logitech keyboard that has an integrated touch pad, although the track pad isnt the best choice for games could be the worst choice for FPS games.

^^ yes i have the logitech bluetooth mediaboard for PS3, but mainly use it for internet surfing and stuff.. the touchpad is definitely not responsive enough for FPS games..

@Lord Nemesis, how do u find the FragFx? have heard mixed reviews about it. mainly over the reliability/durability of the device. i was waiting for them to release the wireless BT version, but doesn't look like that's coming. so might just have to get the normal wired FragFx. how do u like it?

I havent had occation to use it much other than for R:FOM as I have no other PS3 FPS game with me, but gameplay in that was substantially improved over the Six Axis. The mouse aim was way better, but not perfect like in a PC game, but I think thats because the game itself has been tuned for use with a analog stick and not for the fine control that a mouse provides. The mouse itself is an optical one and works well with the provided mouse pad. After having accostomed to using a 2000dpi laser mouse for my PC games, I could not get used to this mouse at first, but as I said its still way better than aiming with an analog stick and after playing half an hour I got used to it.

Apart from that, All the functionality of the six axis has been replicated in this controller. The concept itself was quite good and infact this sort of controller would be perfect for FPS games even on a PC, convinence of mouse aim in the right hand and analog stick for movement in the left and more buttons to switch weapons etc.

For the kind of price I bought it, I found it to be a decent investment when compared to the costly keyboard/mouse PS3 adapters available in the market.

can I play 2 players game on ps3 with one user on keyboard/mouse combo and the other on controller ?

My decision to buy PS3 only depends on answer to this question.

As conveyed via PM, I got mine from US through a fried who carried it back home. Cost me roughly 2.5k at the time. Try asking KMD for a quote.

I just have one thing to say first all console gamers insult PC gamers and now you'll want the benefits that only PC gamers can enjoy. Seriously you need to decide what you want.

Also, I think most games are optimized for controllers on PS3/Xbox 360. For example when I played COD 4 on my friend's Xbox 360 it took me about 20 minutes to adjust but after that I was fine playing with the controller.

Well, you can't say all console gamers insult PC gamers because consoles usually don't measure up to PC (a good rig, that is) as far as graphics are concerned.
And I have seen PC gamers making comments like "consoles are for kids!".

You're right that the console versions of games are usually optimized for that particular console. And some games even used to have auto-aim on consoles.
I don't know if GTA4 has an auto-aim option on the PC version.

playing both consoles and pc games is not a crime and it most certainly isn't a sign of in-decision. making one-self comfortable enough to play both is not a bad thing. nothing's exclusive.

^^ Any USB Keyboard and Mouse will work fine with the PS3. As for games, the games themselves need to support keyboard/mouse input for it to work. It has nothing to do with the model of the keyboard/mouse itself as long as its usb.

Kinda off topic, but which keyboard and mouse compatible with PS3 are available in India ??

from what i hear both the Keyboard and Mouse should be generic with the old roller ball in the mouse and not the optical one. nobody knows y but the optical ones don't work. here's what u need to do that:

1. A PS2 to PS3 Adapter

2. A SmartJoy Frag for the PS2

3. A PS2 Extension Cable(Because the SmartJoy Frag doesn't fit into the PS2 to PS3 Adapter)

now here's how to do it:

1. First u connect the PS2 to PS3 Adapter to the PS3

2. Now connect the PS2 Extension Cable to the Adapter

3. Now connect the SmartJoy Frag to the PS2 Extension Cable. and u're done.
