Sony Computer Entertainment Europe Announces New March 2007 date for European Launch of PLAYSTATION 3

No change in launch date for Japan and North America
Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) today announced that it would revise the launch date of its PLAYSTATION® 3 computer entertainment system in the PAL territories of Europe, Russia, Middle East, Africa and Australasia from 17th November 2006, as previously announced to March 2007.

Launch dates for Japan and North America will remain the same, which are November 11th and November 17th respectively.

The revision of the launch date in the SCEE territories is caused by the delay in the mass production schedule of the blue laser diode within the Sony Group, thus affecting the timely procurement of key components to be utilised in PLAYSTATION 3.

The previously announced PLAYSTATION 3 shipment forecast of 6 million units globally within the fiscal year ending 2007 is not changed.

This would'nt normally be such a big deal considering the European regions always get consoles and portables nearly half a year later than their Japanese and American counterparts but I think Sony did say they were gonna launch simultaneously in all three regions.

Hmm,but wasn't the ps2 tht was officially released here is a PAL version??

If tht's the case,crap!!! I was eagerly waiting for it to be released here after it's initial launch.

Guess it's time to use the secret source.(a.k.a man of wonders and not I don't mean the cave)
 
i dnt knw much abt this PAL ./NTSC thing...so my only Quest..is

will the PS3 released in US /JAPAN work in India ??
 
^^ lol backing up blu ray discs is a far fetched reality acc to blu ray experts.

so if u get the ntsc version, get ready to buy ntsc games only.

also the 110v -220v would be a issue but tht abt it.
 
Wait a minute, didn't Sony say all the Blu-Ray games on Ps3 will be REGION-FREE? Meaning one can play NTSC games no PAL consoles?

If its true, then the only problem NTSC Ps3's would have in India is Power Source. Plug in US bought Ps2 here and you'll have it fried instantly, wouldn't want that to happen with the Ps3....

But that is a simple problem to solve right ?? Just get a good quality 110V to 220V adapter !!!
 
With such high specs i always expected it to be delayed as with most of the mega projects these days
 
ooh wait. i think params is right. cuz even with xbox 360 u get region free games, and now a days all tv's are multisystem. if thats the case, then getting a voltage convertor should solve things.
 
Oh but wait. If you buy a PS3 outside of your region, how will you play good ol' region encrypted blue-ray discs? After all the PS3 isn't a gaming machine, it is a Blu-Ray player too. That is why we should all be willing to throw our bank accounts at sony.

Clearly, buying a PS3 from somewhere other than its intended use are is a bad idea.
 
^Agree'd. Blu-Ray games will indeed by Region Free, meaning you can play an NTSC game on a PAL ps3, but its the movies that will cause the problem.

I read somewhere Blu-Ray will also only have 3 regions division for its movie's section, compared to countless regional numbers of DVD movies today.

Not all xbox 360 games are region free... infact very few games are region free.
 
hey chaos u can check on play-asia.com u'd get every title you need region free and shipped to india at a very cool price.

m not endorsing this website it any manner, just think its damn cool as it stocks every game and ships to india too.
